Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark<\/em>, the upcoming film produced by Guillermo del Toro<\/a>, will feature Lana Del Rey<\/a>\u2019s new cover of Donovan\u2019s<\/a> 1966 folk-rock hit \u201cSeason of the Witch.\u201d A snippet of the cover can be heard in the latest trailer for the film, while the song\u2019s full debut will coincide with the movie\u2019s theatrical release this Friday, August 9th.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have admired Lana\u2019s music for a while now and felt in my gut that she would run with \u2018Season of the Witch\u2019 \u2014 that she would use her alchemy to transform it,\u201d said del Toro (Pan\u2019s Labyrinth<\/em>, The Shape of Water<\/em>) in a statement. \u201cShe is a great artist and has been an amazing partner with us in this adventure. It is an honor for me to have met her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark<\/em> is based on the series of the same name by Alvin Schwartz. It\u2019s directed by Andr\u00e9 \u00d8vredal from a screenplay by Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman, and a screen story by del Toro, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. The film is set in 1968, two years after Donovan released \u201cSeason of the Witch.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, August 6th, Del Rey will help honor del Toro at his Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. She\u2019s currently promoting her forthcoming album Norman Fucking Rockwell<\/em><\/a>, and recently announced the first leg of her North American tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n
