Lil Nas X<\/a>\u2019s \u201cOld Town Road\u201d narrowly beat out Lizzo\u2019s \u201cTruth Hurts\u201d to maintain the Number One position on the<\/span> Rolling Stone<\/span><\/em> Top 100. \u201cTruth Hurts\u201d was streamed more by a small margin (17.9 million to 17.7. million), but \u201cOld Town Road\u201d earned more downloads (35,000 to 27,400). Lil Nas X\u2019s breakout hit has been Number One on the RS<\/em> 100 for five of the last six weeks. <\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> Rolling Stone<\/span><\/em> Top 100 chart tracks the most popular songs of the week in the United States. Songs are ranked by song units, a number that combines audio streams and song sales using a custom weighting system. The chart does not include passive listening like terrestrial radio or digital radio. The<\/span> Rolling Stone<\/span><\/em> Top 100 chart is updated daily, and each week<\/span> Rolling Stone<\/span><\/em> finalizes and publishes an official version of the chart, covering the seven-day period ending with the previous Thursday. <\/span><\/p>\n

While Lil Nas X maintained his hold on Number One, it was a busy week elsewhere on the RS<\/em> 100. Rick Ross\u2019 \u201cGold Roses,\u201d a gloomy single evoking early 2000s chipmunk soul, debuted at Number Nine with 11.8 million streams. The track features Drake, who is now on three separate duets in the Top Ten \u2014 \u201cGold Roses\u201d joins \u201cMoney in the Grave,\u201d also with Ross, and \u201cNo Guidance,\u201d which features Chris Brown.<\/span><\/p>\n

The other victors on this week\u2019s RS<\/em> 100 are Chance the Rapper<\/a> and NF. Nine tracks from Chance the Rapper\u2019s<\/span> The Big Day<\/span><\/em> debuted on the chart, including four in the Top 40: \u201cHot Shower\u201d (Number 13, 11.7 million streams), \u201cAll Day Long\u201d (Number 28, 7.6 million streams), \u201cDo You Remember\u201d (Number 30, 7.5 million streams), and \u201cHandsome\u201d (Number 38, 6.6 million streams). NF also launched a pair of tracks onto the Top 100; \u201cTime\u201d arrived at Number 34 with 7.2 million streams. <\/span><\/p>\n

Looking towards next week, Lil Nas X may face a serious challenge at Number One: Ariana Grande released a new single \u201cBoyfriend,\u201d on Friday. On Monday, the song was Number Two on Spotify\u2019s U.S. Top 50 chart, while \u201cOld Town Road\u201d had fallen to Number 15. With only two days of consumption data available, \u201cBoyfriend\u201d currently holds a small lead over \u201cOld Town Road\u201d in song units. <\/span><\/p>\n
