After a decisive breakout just a few months ago, the North Carolina rapper has transitioned from a regional star to a force that can almost singlehandedly deliver his peers \u2014 who until recently were much bigger names \u2014 a hit. He has four total songs on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/charts\/songs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Rolling Stone<\/em> Top 100<\/a> \u2014 \u201cSuge,\u201d Chance The Rapper\u2019s \u201cHot Shower,\u201d Megan Thee Stallion\u2019s \u201cCash Shit,\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/lil-baby-dababy-baby-860069\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cBaby,\u201d featuring Lil Baby<\/a> \u2014 three of which are as a guest artist or duo (he has the same amount charting on the <em>Billboard<\/em> Hot 100). Currently, his features for Chance and Megan are their highest (and only charting singles from their most recent albums) on the RS Top 100.<\/p>\n<p>That dominance, logically, comes from DaBaby\u2019s strength on streaming platforms. Three of his songs are in Spotify\u2019s U.S. Top 50, and five have reached YouTube\u2019s U.S. Top 100 Songs chart. Recently, his success extended to radio, a more difficult jump to make. \u201cSuge,\u201d \u201cCash Shit,\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/dababy-offset-baby-sitter-video-817249\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cBaby Sitter,\u201d featuring Offset,<\/a> are in the top 40 most-increased plays on radio for mainstream R&amp;B\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/hip-hop\/\" id=\"auto-tag_hip-hop\" data-tag=\"hip-hop\">Hip-Hop<\/a> National Airplay, according to Nielsen\u2019s BDS rankings.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/dababy-is-goin-baby-807835\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">March interview with <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, DaBaby described how he developed and grew his grassroots movement. \u201cI was trying to figure out how to get radio play. I ended up in his [Arnold Taylor of South Coast Music Group] office anyways before even linking up with him, to work on the radio campaign,\u201d he said. \u201cIt ended up talking with him about him wanting to sign me and I think King Carter brought me to his attention. From that point on, I guess he liked what I had going on. He came, hollered at me. He let me know what it was. Even with Interscope now, I make it real easy on the label. I come with way more than the average artist is gon\u2019 come with.
