Shot by photographer Tyler Mitchell for <em>Vogue<\/em>\u2018s 2018 September issue, it is the first photo made by a black photographer to appear on the cover of the famed fashion magazine in its history.<\/p>\n<p>The portrait features the singer in front of a gold drape backdrop. Beyonc\u00e9 looks stunning, wearing a floral-styled, ornate and pointy headdress and a sparkly Valentino dress. Beyonc\u00e9 poses with her elbows leaning on a flower-adorned Greek column.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis particular work brought us closer to Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s words, appearing within the magazine\u2019s pages,\u201d the museum\u2019s curator of photographs Leslie Ure\u00f1a said in a statement. \u201cAnd showing us more of the historic shoot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is the second image the museum has acquired of Beyonc\u00e9. The first is a poster of the singer\u2019s debut solo album, <em>Dangerously in Love<\/em>, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/nancyvu\/beyonce-photo-tyler-mitchell-vogue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><em>Buzzfeed<\/em> notes<\/a>. It is not currently on display. The museum has not yet revealed when the new acquisition might be on view to the public. They confirmed to <em>ArtNews<\/em> that it will not immediately be on permanent display.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA year ago today we broke the flood gates open,\u201d photographer Mitchell wrote in a post on Instagram to mark the occasion. \u201cSince then it was important to spend the whole year running through them making sure every piece of the gate was knocked down.
