{"id":2447467,"date":"2019-08-12T21:12:00","date_gmt":"2019-08-13T03:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/city-of-aspen-to-host-meetings-on-affordable-housing-plans\/"},"modified":"2019-08-12T21:12:00","modified_gmt":"2019-08-13T03:12:00","slug":"city-of-aspen-to-host-meetings-on-affordable-housing-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/city-of-aspen-to-host-meetings-on-affordable-housing-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Aspen to host meetings on affordable housing plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The city of Aspen is seeking public input on its plans to build more than 200 affordable-housing units, and has set up several community meetings to get feedback.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The first meeting for the city\u2019s \u201cFraming the Future\u201d discussions will be at the lumberyard parking lot Wednesday at Builders First Source from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">A public gathering around the city\u2019s housing plans also will take place at the community picnic Wednesday on the Red Brick lawn from 4:30 to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Aspen City Council <a id=\"N0x143c590N0x13e90b0:N0x143c590N0x1461cb8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/local\/aspen-government-on-track-to-build-close-to-300-affordable-housing-units-in-next-five-years\/\">has directed<\/a> staff to work on developing about 200 units in Burlingame Phase lll, the BMC West lumberyard property and Water Place ll.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The city of Aspen is working with consultants DMH Design, Robert Schultz Consulting and Manifest\/Darnauer Communications on the BMC West lumberyard site; and 359 Design, BendonAdams and BlueGreen on Water Place ll and Burlingame Phase lll engagement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cIt\u2019s important that we present an overarching theme to this effort so we can compile public feedback using a holistic approach,\u201d said Chris Everson, the city\u2019s affordable-housing project manager. \u201cAlthough these are separate projects with individual requirements and several consultants, the overall effort to engage the community will be stronger as we move forward with a united front.
