Robinson appeared on <em>The Late Late Show<\/em> to promote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/motown-documentary-hitsville-showtime-trailer-860732\/\">new documentary<\/a> <em>Hitsville: The Making of Motown<\/em>, prompting Corden to contend that he prefers the soulful hits of 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m talking like Usher, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill,\u201d Corden notes. \u201cI feel like new songs have better sound.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The host is interrupted by Robinson, who takes Corden to task. \u201cI heard you been telling people that modern soul music is better than classic soul music,\u201d Robinson says. \u201cWell, you know, classic soul music is my thing, man.\u201d He adds, \u201cHow about we settle this right here, right now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Back by The Filharmonic, Robinson and Corden takes turns attempting to prove their music is best, with Robinson performing his own track \u201cCruisin\u201d and The Temptations\u2019 classic \u201cGet Ready.\u201d Corden counters with Bruno Mars \u201cFinesse\u201d and Lizzo\u2019s \u201cJuice.\u201d Finally, the duo come together in agreement on a rendition of \u201cMy Girl.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Hitsville: The Making of Motown,&nbsp;<\/em>which will premiere &nbsp;August 24th on Showtime, recounts the story of Motown Records. It features Robinson, as well as Berry Gordy, Dr. Dre and John Legend, and was directed by Benjamin and Gabe Turner. The documentary will have an accompanying official soundtrack, which will feature music from the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Robinson, Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, Martha and the Vandellas and the Jackson 5.
