The pop star announced the new song\u2019s release while accepting her Icon Award at the Teen Choice Award on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jack-antonoff\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jack-antonoff\" data-tag=\"jack-antonoff\">Jack Antonoff<\/a> co-produced track, Swift sings the tender lyrics of devotion over a retro-styled musical motif. \u201cCan I go where you go?\/Can we always be this close?\u201d Swift yearningly sings on the chorus. \u201cForever and ever\/Take me out and take me home\/You\u2019re my, my, my, my lover.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLover\u201d was one of two then-unheard songs previewed in Swift\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/taylor-swift-cover-september-2019?verso=true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Vogue&nbsp;<\/em>cover story<\/a> earlier this month. \u201cThis has one of my favorite bridges,\u201d Swift said of the track. \u201cI love a bridge, and I was really able to go to Bridge City.\u201d Another song she previewed in the interview was \u201cThe Man,\u201d a gender-swapped \u201cthought experiment\u201d about how life would be different if she were male.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLover\u201d is the fourth track to be released off the 18-song&nbsp;<em>Lover<\/em>, following up singles \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/taylor-swift-brendon-urie-me-826952\/\">Me!<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/taylor-swift-you-need-to-calm-down-new-single-glaad-847898\/\">You Need to Calm Down<\/a>\u201d as well as ballad \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/taylor-swift-the-archer-862685\/\">The Archer<\/a>.\u201d This will be Swift\u2019s seventh album and her first on a label other than Big Machine.
