It\u2019s got a French New Wave sort of vibe, with the former Smiths guitarist evoking an ominous, experimental aesthetic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this track is more of a story\u2026 more of a psychedelic musical track,\u201d Marr recently told <em>DIY<\/em>. \u201cMaybe I\u2019ve been quite preoccupied with the cosmos over the last couple of years but it\u2019s the perfect metaphor for the star system \u2014 whether that\u2019s a rock star or a movie star or a reality TV star. I think half my mind was still in the cosmos and the other half was around these vacuous modern day reality stars. \u2018The Bright Parade\u2019 puts the two together and puts it on top of a psychedelic backing track.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Bright Parade,\u201d released earlier this month, follows Marr\u2019s previously released song, \u201cArmatopia,\u201d which arrived in February with a karaoke-themed music video. The musician\u2019s latest solo album, <em>Call the Comet<\/em>, dropped in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Marr <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/watch-johnny-marrs-new-video-2538826\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">told <em>NME<\/em><\/a> that he hopes to collaborate with New Order\u2019s Bernard Sumner for an upcoming release. \u201cI think me and Bernard will probably do something again in the future,\u201d Marr said. \u201cMaybe I\u2019d like to rope Stephen Morris in at some point. Stephen\u2019s always been one of my favorite musicians \u2014 not just because he\u2019s from Manchester, but no one\u2019s ever managed to play like him, before or since. Also, I really rate Gillian too.
