{"id":2447630,"date":"2019-08-16T05:24:55","date_gmt":"2019-08-16T11:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=872563"},"modified":"2019-08-16T05:24:55","modified_gmt":"2019-08-16T11:24:55","slug":"see-sleater-kinney-celebrate-their-fans-in-love-music-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/see-sleater-kinney-celebrate-their-fans-in-love-music-video\/","title":{"rendered":"See Sleater-Kinney Celebrate Their Fans in \u2018Love\u2019 Music Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Screen-Shot-2019-08-16-at-12.17.30-PM.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/sleater-kinney\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sleater-kinney\" data-tag=\"sleater-kinney\">Sleater-Kinney<\/a> have commemorated the release of their new album <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/sleater-kinney-review-the-ceneter-wont-hold-871167\/\"><em>The Center Won\u2019t Hold<\/em><\/a> with a music video for album cut \u201cLove.\u201d The clip features Polaroid images collected from fans with the song\u2019s lyrics scrawled as caption on each photo, as well as on a map of America.<\/p>\n<p>The band previously asked fans to submit photos that \u201ccelebrate your body as a means of resistance,\u201d as well as photos that \u201ccelebrate your body, in whatever that means to you.\u201d These body positive images pop up as the video unfolds, revealing fans of all genders, sizes and ages.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Center Won\u2019t Hold,<\/em> Sleater-Kinney\u2019s 10th album, is out now. The collection was produced by Grammy Award-winning artist St. Vincent and marks the group\u2019s first album since 2015\u2019s <em>No Cities to Love<\/em>. Earlier this year, longtime Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss, who contributed to&nbsp;<em>The Center Won\u2019t Hold<\/em>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sleater-kinney-drummer-janet-weiss-leaves-band-853944\/\">announced her departure<\/a>&nbsp;from the band.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re always aware of the sense, as women who are not in our 30s anymore, that there\u2019s this idea that sonically you\u2019re supposed to contract after a while, and make things that are more appeasing or quieter,\u201d singer\/guitarist Carrie Brownstein said in a press release. \u201cI think we\u2019ve always fought against that. It\u2019s also just not in our nature. The alchemy of this band is just not something that coheres around subtlety or quietness. I think on this record, it\u2019s our tenth record, and we are conscious of the fact that there\u2019s not a lot of precedent for continuing to make music as you age. Particularly for an all-female band. There are not a lot of contemporaries who have made this many records. We don\u2019t want to go quietly into the night. You want to lay down tracks for the people behind you, so it could feel like this journey does not end at a certain age.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sleater-Kinney will embark on an extensive fall North American tour, with European dates to follow next year.
