{"id":2447774,"date":"2019-08-20T11:48:52","date_gmt":"2019-08-20T17:48:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=874059"},"modified":"2019-08-20T11:48:52","modified_gmt":"2019-08-20T17:48:52","slug":"plague-infected-prairie-dogs-threaten-phish-labor-day-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/plague-infected-prairie-dogs-threaten-phish-labor-day-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Plague-Infected Prairie Dogs Threaten Phish Labor Day Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/phish-prairie-dog-plague.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/phish\/\" id=\"auto-tag_phish\" data-tag=\"phish\">Phish<\/a> has issued a statement regarding fans\u2019 increasing concerns over plague-infected prairie dogs threatening the band\u2019s&nbsp;annual Labor Day event at Commerce City, Colorado\u2019s Dick\u2019s Sporting Goods Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you may have heard, there have been ongoing cases of plague in prairie dog colonies in the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge this summer,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/As%20you%20may%20have%20heard,%20there%20have%20been%20ongoing%20cases%20of%20plague%20in%20prairie%20dog%20colonies%20in%20the%20Rocky%20Mountain%20Arsenal%20National%20Wildlife%20Refuge%20this%20summer.%20Fortunately,%20the%20Tri-County%20Health%20Department%20has%20advised%20that%20Dick%E2%80%99s%20Sporting%20Goods%20Park%20(DSGP)%20is%20safe%20to%20host%20Phish%E2%80%99s%20concerts%20over%20Labor%20Day%20weekend.%20While%20there%20have%20been%20no%20confirmed%20cases%20of%20plague%20on%20site%20at%20DSGP,%20as%20an%20extra%20measure%20of%20caution,%20the%20Health%20Department%20has%20restricted%20parking%20at%20the%20venue%20to%20asphalt%20lots%20-%20concertgoers%20will%20not%20be%20allowed%20to%20park%20on%20unpaved%20lots%20or%20grass.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">the band wrote.<\/a> \u201cFortunately, the Tri-County Health Department has advised that Dick\u2019s Sporting Goods Park (DSGP) is safe to host Phish\u2019s concerts over Labor Day weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile there have <span class=\"text_exposed_show\">been no confirmed cases of plague on site at DSGP, as an extra measure of caution, the Health Department has restricted parking at the venue to asphalt lots \u2014 concertgoers will not be allowed to park on unpaved lots or grass.&nbsp;<\/span>As a result, we are sorry to say that there will be no overnight camping allowed for this year\u2019s shows. All camping tickets and RV tickets (and associated service charges) will be automatically refunded within the next few days. We recognize the tremendous inconvenience this may cause for those who had planned on camping.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Colorado wildlife officials temporarily closed parts of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge last month after the startling discovery that plague-carrying fleas were biting black-tailed prairie dogs. The refuge reopened on August 17th, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fws.gov\/nwrs\/threecolumn.aspx?id=6442456147\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">a statement from&nbsp;the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service<\/a> advising visitors to \u201cAvoid contact with prairie dogs and other wild rodents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band has been performing the Labor Day event for the past eight years.
