Taron Egerton<\/a>, who starred as Elton John<\/a> in the musical biopic Rocketman<\/em><\/a>, will read the audiobook of the singer\u2019s memoir Me<\/em>, out October 15th. John himself will also appear on the 13-hour, unabridged audiobook of his upcoming autobiography<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cElton John is a fascinating man, at times incredibly intimidating and yet very vulnerable; I have never met anyone like him,\u201d Egerton said in a statement. \u201cI was passionate about my role as Elton in the movie Rocketman<\/em> and this feels like the perfect closing chapter to the whole experience. I am honored to have been asked to narrate Elton\u2019s autobiography and I\u2019m excited to get started.\u201d<\/p>\n

Me<\/em>, published by Henry Holt & Co., will be John\u2019s \u201cfirst and only autobiography,\u201d<\/a> tracing his life and work as a singer-songwriter and his rise to fame. (He also was credited as an executive producer on Rocketman<\/em>.) The book<\/a> will further discuss John\u2019s road to sobriety and his relationship and family with David Furnish.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not prone to being a nostalgic person. I\u2019m often accused of only looking forward to my next gig or creative project. It\u2019s come as quite a surprise how cathartic I am finding the process of writing my memoirs,\u201d John said of the memoir when he first announced it<\/a> in 2016.<\/p>\n

This past June, John penned an open letter<\/a> to Vladimir Putin, criticizing the Russian president\u2019s treatment of the LGBTQ community.<\/p>\n
