Taylor Swift<\/a> performed two songs from her upcoming album Lover<\/em><\/a> and a throwback track on Good Morning America<\/em><\/a> Thursday morning, to a crowd of eager fans who had camped out the night before to see her. (She even ordered pizzas<\/a> for them.)<\/p>\n

The performance included a rousing rendition of \u201cYou Need to Calm Down,\u201d sung back eagerly to Swift by her stans, as well as her lead single \u201cME!,\u201d sans Brendon Urie. She then surprised fans with a performance of \u201cShake It Off,\u201d the lead single from her fifth album 1989<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Swift\u2019s album Lover<\/em><\/a> arrives this Friday, featuring 18 tracks including one with the Dixie Chicks<\/a>, who have not released new material as a group in 13 years. She previously released the singles \u201cME!\u201d with Urie (now without the spelling line<\/a>) and \u201cYou Need to Calm Down,\u201d along with \u201cThe Archer\u201d<\/a> and the title track<\/a>. She\u2019ll be opening the MTV Video Music Awards this Monday, which also happens to be the 10th anniversary of that infamous Kanye interruption<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This week Swift announced that she will be re-recording the masters<\/a> of her earlier work, in order to circumvent a deal by her former label Big Machine and Scooter Braun\u2019s Ithaca Holdings, which now own the rights to her earlier recordings. Before her GMA <\/em>performance, Swift spoke to Robin Roberts<\/a> about her decision and stated that starting next year, in line with her contract, she would be able to record the albums all over again.<\/p>\n

I think artists deserve to own their own work.
