{"id":2447864,"date":"2019-08-22T09:20:54","date_gmt":"2019-08-22T15:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=875083"},"modified":"2019-08-22T09:20:54","modified_gmt":"2019-08-22T15:20:54","slug":"watch-bruce-springsteens-ill-stand-by-you-lyric-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/watch-bruce-springsteens-ill-stand-by-you-lyric-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch Bruce Springsteen\u2019s \u2018I\u2019ll Stand By You\u2019 Lyric Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/bruce-springsteen-harry-potter.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/bruce-springsteen\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bruce-springsteen\" data-tag=\"bruce-springsteen\">Bruce Springsteen<\/a> has released a lyric video for \u201cI\u2019ll Stand By You,\u201d a previously unreleased song that appears in the new movie <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/movies\/movie-reviews\/blinded-by-the-light-movie-springsteen-870785\/\">Blinded By The Light<\/a>.<\/em> The visual features the lyrics from the song along with scenes from the movie, which is about a Pakistani teenager growing up in 1987 Britain who falls under the spell of Springsteen\u2019s music.<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen wrote \u201cI\u2019ll Stand By You\u201d at some point in the late 1990s or early 2000s, inspired by the Harry Potter books he was reading to his young children. He recorded it in 2001 and offered it to director Christopher Columbus as he was filming <em>Harry Potter and the Philosopher\u2019s Stone<\/em>. It was rejected because J.K. Rowling\u2019s contract said that no commercial songs could be used in the film; the entire soundtrack is composed of John Williams\u2019 score for the movie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was pretty good, it was a song I wrote for my eldest son, it was a big ballad that was very uncharacteristic of something I\u2019d sing myself,\u201d Springsteen said in 2016. \u201cBut it was something that I thought would have fit lovely. At some point I\u2019d like to get it into a children\u2019s movie of some sort because it was a pretty lovely song.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIll Stand By You\u201d is the only unreleased Springsteen on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/bruce-springsteen-blinded-by-the-light-soundtrack-ill-stand-by-you-856345\/\">the soundtrack<\/a>, but it also includes rarities like \u201cThe River\u201d like at the Madison Square Garden No Nukes concert in 1979, an acoustic \u201cThe Promised Land\u201d live on the National Mall in Washington DC in 2014 and \u201cThunder Road\u201d live at L.A.\u2019s Roxy Theater in October 1974.<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen made a surprise appearance at the Asbury Park, New Jersey premiere of <em>Blinded By the Light<\/em> where he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/bruce-springsteen-surprise-set-blinded-by-the-light-premiere-869025\/\">performed a four-song set<\/a> with Southside Johnny &amp; The Asbury Jukes.
