Eddie Money<\/a> has revealed that he is currently battling stage 4 esophageal cancer. The rocker \u2013 who canceled his summer tour dates<\/a> following heart valve surgery \u2013 discussed the diagnosis in a new clip from his AXS TV series Real Money<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought I was going in for a check-up and [the doctor] told me I have cancer,\u201d Money said. \u201cWe found out that I had cancer and that it was stage 4 and that it was in my liver and my lymph nodes and a little bit in my stomach\u2026 It hit me really, really hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Money\u2019s wife Laurie specified, \u201cEddie has been diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer. It\u2019s in his esophagus, it\u2019s in the top of his stomach \u2013 it\u2019s where the tumor is \u2013 and it\u2019s also spread to his liver.\u201d<\/p>\n

The episode of Real Money<\/em> detailing Money\u2019s cancer battle will air September 12th on AXS TV. The singer received the diagnosis last fall while filming the series\u2019 second season, which will now focus on Money\u2019s cancer and the impact it has on his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I don\u2019t want to do is I don\u2019t want to keep the fact that I have cancer from everybody,\u201d Money added. \u201cIt\u2019s not honest. I want to be honest with everybody. I want people to know that cancer [treatment] has come a long way and not everybody dies from cancer like they did in the Fifties and Sixties. Am I going to live a long time? Who knows? It\u2019s in God\u2019s hands.\u201d<\/p>\n

In July, Money canceled his summer tour after developing pneumonia<\/a> while recovering from his recent heart valve surgery. \u201cThe heart issue was a condition unrelated to his cancer,\u201d AXS TV noted. Despite the multiple health issues, Money still plans on returning to the road later this year.<\/p>\n
