Jeff Buckley<\/a>\u2019s rare demo \u201cSky Blue Skin\u201d has finally been released. Recorded at the late singer\u2019s final studio session on September 13th, 1996, the track has been sought after by fans and collectors for two decades.<\/p>\n

The stripped-down song clocks in at nearly six minutes, with Buckley\u2019s vocals swimming through a funereal abyss. \u201cI already see the ghosts on the sidewalk\/Kissing in the hereafter,\u201d he sings, before repeating, \u201cChances are you wouldn\u2019t even recognize the man I am now.\u201d The final seconds feature a snippet of Buckley talking in the studio. \u201cThat\u2019s all,\u201d he states. \u201cThat\u2019s all it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cSky Blue Skin\u201d demo is part of the massive digital expansion of Buckley\u2019s catalogue<\/a>. His legendary debut Grace<\/em>, which celebrated its 25th anniversary<\/a> last week, was reissued with an unreleased track, \u201cStrawberry Street,\u201d which he wrote in the late Eighties. In addition to the reissue, four live albums<\/a> have been released, as well as more than 50 tracks and a sparkling merchandise line<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In October, a collection of Buckley\u2019s journals, lyrics and ephemera<\/a> will be published via Da Capo Press. The book, titled Jeff Buckley: His Own Voice,<\/em><\/a> was edited by Rolling Stone<\/em> senior writer David Browne and Buckley\u2019s mother Mary Guibert. \u201cThere have been and probably always will be those who wish to speak for my son, take credit for his success or put words in his mouth,\u201d Guibert said in a statement. \u201cIn choosing these pages to share with the world, I\u2019m giving him the chance to speak with his own voice, for the record\u2026 and for his fans to see what a sweet, funny, amazing human being he was.\u201d<\/p>\n
