Nearly 140 musicians have joined forces for Planned Parenthood<\/a>\u2019s Bans Off My Body<\/a> campaign, including Lizzo<\/a>, Billie Eilish<\/a>, Miley Cyrus<\/a>, Ariana Grande, Haim, Kacey Musgraves<\/a> and Carole King. The artists appeared in a full page ad in Billboard<\/em><\/a> titled \u201cBands Together, Bans Off.\u201d The nonprofit fittingly made the announcement on Women\u2019s Equality Day.<\/p>\n

The campaign\u2019s mission is to raise awareness of the devastating<\/a> restrictions on<\/a> abortion<\/a> that have swept across the country over the past few years. The goal is to get half a million signatures on an online petition supporting the cause by January 22, 2020 \u2014 the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbortion<\/a> access and reproductive health and rights are under attack like never before, and we need everyone to fight back,\u201d said Alexis McGill Johnson, who is Planned Parenthood\u2019s acting president\/CEO since the organization ousted Dr. Leana Wen.<\/a> \u201c<\/span>These bans do not represent the will of the American people, which is why so many powerful, diverse voices are speaking out against them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nonprofit will have a presence at Jay-Z\u2019s Made in America Festival<\/a> in Philadelphia on Labor Day and Atlanta\u2019s Music Midtown Festival<\/a> on September 14th and 15th, the latter of which Eilish is headlining. \u201cI\u2019m proud to be standing up for Planned Parenthood as they fight for fair and equal access to reproductive rights,\u201d the pop star said in a statement. \u201cWe cannot live freely and move fully in the world when our basic right to access the reproductive health care we need is under attack. Every person deserves the right to control their body, their life, and their future.\u201d<\/p>\n
