This fall will see special engagements by bands with cult followings like Against Me!, who are playing select albums from their oeuvre in full, and artists who could start their own religious cult, like Madonna, who\u2019s opting to do dozens of intimate gigs rather than the stadium slog. Meanwhile, the Eagles are playing all of <em>Hotel California<\/em>, Nick Cave is taking your questions, Lizzo is tooting her own flute, and Slayer are saying their final goodbyes. Since there are so many concerts and events to pick from this fall, we\u2019ve picked 20 you don\u2019t want to miss before the snow starts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/lizzo-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Lizzo<\/strong><\/a><br \/>August 30 \u2013 October 28<\/p>\n<p>Blame it on the juice or blame it on the fact that she knows how to keep a good thing going, but Lizzo will be returning for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/lizzo-fall-tour-dates-cuz-i-love-you-825389\/\">another North American tour<\/a> in support of her third full-length, <em>Cuz I Love You<\/em>. She\u2019s playing bigger venues than the last run, including New York\u2019s Radio City Music Hall and Nashville\u2019s Ryman, as she continues her ascent to superstardom. Expect to see her singing and dancing to her greatest hits so far, and maybe she\u2019ll even whip out her flute for a solo \u2014 <em>bitch!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/tyler-the-creator-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Tyler, the Creator<\/strong><\/a><br \/>August 30 \u2013 November 10<\/p>\n<p>Riding high on the success of <em>Igor<\/em>, the rap innovator will embark on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/tyler-the-creator-igor-north-american-tour-843796\/\">a celebratory trek<\/a> across North America with a gig at Bumbershoot. Plop in the middle of it, though, he\u2019s heading over to London for a three-night victory lap, since the country is finally letting him perform there again. A few years back, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/tyler-the-creator-banned-from-united-kingdom-over-lyrics-71119\/\">he bemoaned<\/a> the cancellation of his U.K. dates supposedly over lyrics on his <em>Bastard<\/em> and <em>Goblin<\/em> LPs. So expect him to be even more excited (and not at all jetlagged) when he picks things back up at Maryland\u2019s Merriweather Post Pavilion in late September.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/king-crimson-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>King Crimson<\/strong><\/a><br \/>September 3 \u2013 October 13<\/p>\n<p>For the past half a century, King Crimson have built their reputation on never doing things the easy way. So the eight-man prog-rock ensemble (or \u201cdouble quartet,\u201d as they\u2019re known) decided to mark their 50th anniversary by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/king-crimson-tour-50-concerts-50th-anniversary-778601\/\">playing 50 concerts<\/a> across three continents. The North American leg kicks off in September, and it will find the band mounting a curious challenge. In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/robert-fripp-interview-king-crimson-tour-david-bowie-kanye-west-820783\/\"><em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> this year, guitarist and de facto band leader Robert Fripp said, \u201cA primary aim of the present band is to move outside the conventional male prog ghetto.\u201d It\u2019s a lofty goal since they define prog rock for many people, which will make it all the more exciting to watch them try.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/kraftwerk-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kraftwerk<\/strong><\/a><br \/>September 3 \u2013 September 18<\/p>\n<p>The synth-pop pioneers, known for stark visuals and even starker Germanic melodies, return this fall with a short run of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/kraftwerk-bringing-3-d-concerts-back-to-u-s-in-september-186874\/\">so-called 3-D concerts<\/a>. At the shows, fans wear 3-D glasses and soak in wild imagery related to the songs as they leap off the stage in front of them. Meanwhile, the quartet stays in place and works their keyboards. Fittingly, the tour shares its name with their live album, <em>3-D The Catalogue<\/em>, which consists of music they performed at opera houses and art museums, marking Kraftwerk\u2019s ascension to high art.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/sleater-kinney-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Sleater-Kinney<\/strong><\/a><br \/>September 5 \u2013&nbsp;November 20<\/p>\n<p>Sleater-Kinney may have portentously titled their recent album <em>The Center Won\u2019t Hold<\/em> just before they seemed to fall apart, as longtime drummer Janet Weiss announced her departure. But the record, which St. Vincent produced, also proved that they\u2019re able to adapt to new challenges. So just what they\u2019ll play and how they\u2019ll even pull off their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sleater-kinney-hurry-on-home-lyric-video-new-song-tour-841461\/\">upcoming, two-month tour<\/a> remains a mystery \u2014 at press time they have yet to announce a new stickwoman \u2014&nbsp;the odds are in their favor they\u2019ll get it going one way or another.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/madonna-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Madonna<br \/><\/strong><\/a>September 12 \u2013 December 19<\/p>\n<p>It may be she feels strongly about her new album, <em>Madame X<\/em>. It may be she\u2019s sick of playing stadiums. It may be the eye patch. But no matter the rationale, the chance to see the Material Girl in an intimate theater is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so it\u2019s probably best not to question it. In addition to performing her own hit-filled set, she\u2019ll be joining Ashley Monroe and Angeleena Presley to round out the country trio Pistol Annies on each date of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/miranda-lambert-2019-tour-roadside-bars-and-pink-guitars-818222\/\">the two-month tour<\/a>. She\u2019ll also be getting support variously from Elle King and Maren Morris, among others. Each show will likely be a night to remember since Lambert has said she made it a point to let her hair down on <em>Wildcard<\/em>, which features the upbeat \u201cIt All Comes Out in the Wash.\u201d \u201cWith this one, I just wanted to cut loose a little bit,\u201d she recently told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/miranda-lambert-new-song-mess-with-my-head-869727\/\"><em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/slayer-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Slayer<\/a><br \/><\/strong>September 14 \u2013 November 30<\/p>\n<p>After nearly 40 years of thrash perfection, Slayer will end their bloody reign this year with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/slayer-final-leg-farewell-tour-dates-856842\/\">short and not-so-sweet final trek<\/a> across North and South America. After one-offs at Riot Fest and Exit 111 fest, they\u2019ll kick off their valediction in Ashville, North Carolina in November hitting arenas, including Madison Square Garden before taking their final bows with two gigs at Los Angeles\u2019 Forum. When they played the States last year, they had supersized the pyro and satanic backdrops for outdoor sheds, so only the Devil himself knows what they could pull off in an arena.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/chance-the-rapper-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Chance the Rapper<\/strong><\/a><br \/>September 14 \u2013 November 10<\/p>\n<p>Although he\u2019s been an omnipresent figure in rap for nearly a decade, Chance the Rapper only just put out his official debut album, <em>The Big Day<\/em>. The record is a typically star-studded affair, with guest appearances by everyone from John Legend to Randy Newman, and he\u2019s supporting it with an equally monumental tour, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/chance-the-rapper-north-american-tour-dates-864671\/\">playing arenas all around North America<\/a> for two months. He hasn\u2019t announced any supporting acts yet, but judging from the list of guests on <em>The Big Day<\/em>, he\u2019ll have a lot to live up to.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/jeff-beck-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jeff Beck<\/strong><\/a><br \/>September 17 \u2013&nbsp;September 27<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been a decade since Jeff Beck shared a stage with the singer of his first solo group, Rod Stewart \u2014and that was only for a rendition of \u201cPeople Get Ready.\u201d At a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/see-rod-stewart-jeff-beck-reunite-people-get-ready-2009-732004\/\">special Hollywood Bowl gig<\/a> at the end of Jeff Beck\u2019s tour, the no-longer-prickly pair will perform their first true concert together in about 50 years, since Beck disbanded the original Jeff Beck Group around the time it got an offer to play Woodstock. To build up to that monumental event, Beck is playing a short run of gigs with vocalist Jimmy Hall (who is one of the few singers who can fill Stewart\u2019s shoes).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly Holograms<\/strong><br \/>September 19 \u2013&nbsp;November 20<\/p>\n<p>One of the benefits of being an apparition is that you don\u2019t tire easy, so the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/roy-orbison-buddy-holly-hologram-tour-dates-849346\/\">Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly co-headlining hologram tour<\/a> is packed with many back-to-back dates. The Orbison hologram played to near sellout crowds last year, signaling strong interest in hologram tours, and recent treks by Frank Zappa and Ronnie James Dio specters have garnered positive reviews. He\u2019d field questions from the audience \u2014 anything his fans wanted to know \u2014 and augment them with performances of songs from his solo oeuvre, accompanying himself on the piano. The questions were at times heartrending and hilarious, and he liked it so much he\u2019s expanded the experiment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/nick-cave-audience-questions-tour-830936\/\">to a month-long tour<\/a>. \u201cIn the recent live shows we have all shown a kind of willingness to open up,\u201d he said of the Q&amp;A dates he\u2019s done so far.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/lana-del-rey-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Lana Del Rey<\/strong><\/a><br \/>September 21 \u2013 October 11<\/p>\n<p>The pouty pop singer kicks off the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/lana-del-rey-norman-f-cking-rockwell-tour-866062\/\">first leg of a tour<\/a> in support of her recently released <em>Norman Fucking Rockwell<\/em> album this fall with a short run of shows that will see her go from Long Island, New York to San Diego, California in only a couple of weeks\u2019 time. She has yet to score a hit with one of the albums singles (her most recent, \u201cDoin\u2019 Time,\u201d was a minor hit in the U.K., and the closest thing she\u2019s had to a hit here is a cover of Donovan\u2019s \u201cSeason of the Witch\u201d for the <em>Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark<\/em> soundtrack), but that\u2019s not keeping her from playing sheds like the Greek Theatre and even a gig at the Hollywood Bowl.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/luke-combs-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Luke Combs<\/strong><\/a><br \/>September 26 \u2013 December 13<\/p>\n<p>Luke Combs\u2019 debut, <em>This One\u2019s for You<\/em>, was like a lightning bolt when it came out a couple of years back, since it hit Number One on the country chart and went double platinum, and he\u2019s kept the momentum going. <em>The Prequel<\/em>, which came out this past June, also went to Number One, and its single, \u201cBeer Never Broke My Heart,\u201d became a crossover hit. Now to mark his \u201cBeautiful Crazy\u201d ascent, the 29-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/luke-combs-arena-tour-dates-814523\/\">will be playing arenas<\/a> and a two-night stint at Los Angeles\u2019 fabled Greek Theatre. With the way he\u2019s going, it would be good to catch him while you can still kind of see him, before his inevitable stadium tour.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/the-eagles-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Eagles<\/strong><\/a><br \/>September 27 \u2013&nbsp;October 5<\/p>\n<p>This could be Heaven or this could be Hell, depending on your fondness for the Eagles\u2019 <em>Hotel California<\/em> album. The group will be playing their classic 1976 album \u2014 which was <a href=\"https:\/\/thejeopardyfan.com\/2019\/07\/final-jeopardy-7-25-2019.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">recently the answer<\/a> to a <em>Jeopardy<\/em> question about <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> reviews \u2014 in its entirety at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/eagles-hotel-california-concert-las-vegas-816490\/\">three gigs at Las Vegas\u2019<\/a> MGM Grand Garden Arena. In the absence of late singer-guitarist Glenn Frey, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey (Glenn\u2019s son) will be filling in for him on \u201cNew Kid in Town.\u201d Since the record runs only 43 minutes, they\u2019ll be filling out the performances with the rest of their greatest hits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/rolling-loud-festival-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Rolling Loud Festival<\/strong><\/a><br \/>September 28 \u2013 September 29 and October 12 \u2013&nbsp;October 13<\/p>\n<p>Two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/rolling-loud-new-festival-dates-new-york-856868\/\">events this fall<\/a>, in Oakland and New York City, will somehow bring together the most gonzo, off-the-wall assemblage of hip-hop artists this year. The first one, Rolling Loud Bay Area, will feature headlining sets by Future, G-Eazy, Migos, and Lil Uzi Vert, while the East Coast edition \u2014 to take place in Queens \u2014 will see mega sets by Travis Scott, Meek Mill, Wu-Tang Clan, A$AP Rocky, and, once again, Lil Uzi Vert. He staged the tour in support of it with like-dressed museums who could bring their instruments with them all over the stage and dance, all while enjoying the utopian pleasure of never wearing shoes. He\u2019ll be focusing on that album\u2019s nuances, as well as hits form his whole career, as he brings the production to Broadway for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/david-byrne-american-utopia-broadway-836666\/\">fall and winter residency<\/a>. \u201cAs I was recording the songs for my&nbsp;<em>American Utopia<\/em> LP it occurred to me that they would be exciting to play live- and I realized that a lot of my older material would fit right in\u2026 I imagined a live show,\u201d he said this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/exit-111-festival-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Exit 111<\/a><br \/><\/strong>October 11 \u2013&nbsp;October 13<\/p>\n<p>Nearly half a year after Bonnaroo brought jam bands and classic rock artists to Manchester, Tennessee, the inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/guns-n-roses-exit-111-festival-bonnaroo-825862\/\">Exit 111 festival<\/a> will host a decidedly heavier affair on the same grounds. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Def Leppard, and Guns N\u2019 Roses headline the three-day hard-rock event, which will also see performances by Slayer, Anthrax, ZZ Top, Ghost, Mastodon, Deftones, and Lamb of God, among many others. Just this once, you\u2019ll be able to desecrate the hallowed festival site by shouting, \u201cPlay \u2018Free Bird&#8217;\u201d and not have to duck a heavy pelting of empty beer cans.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividseats.com\/concerts\/against-me-tickets.html?utm_source=rsc&amp;utm_campaign=RSCon2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Against Me!<\/strong><\/a><br \/>October 12 \u2013&nbsp;October 25<\/p>\n<p>In a rare moment of nostalgia, the long-running punk group will play four full albums from its discography at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/against-me-tour-dates-classic-albums-performance-834719\/\">two-night stands around North America<\/a>. Frontwoman Laura Jane Grace will lead her bandmates through performances of 2005\u2019s <em>Searching for a Former Clarity<\/em> and 2007\u2019s <em>New Wave<\/em> \u2014 the records that broke the group into the mainstream \u2014 on the first night and 2010\u2019s <em>White Crosses<\/em> and 2014\u2019s <em>Transgender Dysphoria Blues<\/em> the second night. Decades have passed and surprisingly little has changed. His mic stand is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/king-diamond-returns-with-human-bones-after-death-defying-decade-242736\/\">a cross made out of human bones<\/a>, and he still invokes Satan from the middle of the sort of stage set you expect to see in a grand Broadway production of something like <em>Phantom of the Opera<\/em>.
