LaShawn Daniels, a Grammy Award-winning<\/a> songwriter, died Tuesday as a result of injuries from a car accident at the age of 41, according to CNN<\/a>. His writing credits spanned decades and genres, and included hits like Whitney Houston\u2019s \u201cIt\u2019s Not Right but It\u2019s OK,\u201d Michael Jackson\u2019s \u201cYou Rock My World,\u201d Destiny\u2019s Child \u201cSay My Name,\u201d and Lady Gaga\u2019s \u201cTelephone.\u201d Daniels\u2019 wife, April Daniels, posted a statement to Instagram<\/a> announcing the death of her husband.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, family member and friend, LaShawn Daniels who was the victim of a fatal car accident in South Carolina,\u201d writes wife April Daniels. \u201cA Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter, Daniels was a man of extraordinary faith and a pillar in our family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Daniels, better know as \u201cBig Shiz,\u201d was instrumental in creating the sound of late Nineties and early 2000s R&B and pop. In a 2018 interview with Rolling Out<\/a><\/em>, Daniels described his working relationship with Whitney Houston. \u201cWe would talk about relationships and she loved talking about real situations,\u201d he said. \u201cShe didn\u2019t want to sing about anything that was fake, Whitney always wanted to keep it real. I think that\u2019s another thing that made her special and people relate to her. It would start from a conversation and we\u2019d go from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Musicians from across the music industry, including Kehlani, Dawn Richard, Ari Lennox, Ryan Hemsworth, and James Fauntleroy paid their respects across social media on Tuesday. \u201cThe entire music community is feeling the loss of one of the greatest to ever do it,\u201d Kirk Franklin tweeted<\/a>. \u201cLaShawn Daniels we just stood together a week ago. No words.\u201d<\/p>\n
