During a conversation with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/lil-nas-x\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lil Nas X<\/a>, marketing executive Paul Rivera asks Nas, \u201cWith all that early success you felt it was important to make an announcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said he was gay. So what?\u201d Hart interrupts.<\/p>\n<p>Lil Nas X came out via Twitter on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/lil-nas-x-comes-out-on-world-pride-day-853892\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Pride Day<\/a> this year. After the commotion died down on <em>The Shop<\/em>, Nas detailed why he made that decision while \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/lil-nas-x-old-town-road-810844\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Old Town Road<\/a>\u201d was at the peak of its popularity. \u201cIt\u2019s not that, like, it\u2019s like being forced,\u201d Lil Nas said. \u201cIt\u2019s knowing growing up, I\u2019m growing up to hate this shit.\u201d The conversation turned tense again when Hart asked what Lil Nas specifically he grew up to hate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHomosexuality, gay people,\u201d Nas countered. \u201cCome on, now. If you really from the hood, you know. For me, the cool dude with the song on the top of everything to say this any other time, I\u2019m doing this for attention in my eyes. But if you\u2019re doing this while you\u2019re at the top, you know it\u2019s for real. It\u2019s showing it doesn\u2019t really matter I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Multiple people found Hart\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MajorPhilebrity\/status\/1169232355791446016\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">line of questioning<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FredTJoseph\/status\/1169231596953702407\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">insulting<\/a>.&nbsp;The comedian infamously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/movies\/movie-news\/kevin-hart-steps-down-oscars-host-764504\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stepped down as Oscars host<\/a> in December, after his past homophobic tweets resurfaced. Later in the episode, Hart tries to smooth over his early comments to Lil Nas by sharing that he has nothing to explain to the world. \u201cWhat I want to say to Lil Nas X in no way shape or form should you ever have to defend, \u2018but guys this is what I am,&#8217;\u201d Hart explained. \u201cThat\u2019s not it. \u2018It\u2019s guys this is what I\u2019m going to do.
