{"id":2448487,"date":"2019-09-09T18:48:00","date_gmt":"2019-09-10T00:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/traffic-stop-on-i-70-in-glenwood-springs-turns-into-massive-meth-bust\/"},"modified":"2019-09-09T18:48:00","modified_gmt":"2019-09-10T00:48:00","slug":"traffic-stop-on-i-70-in-glenwood-springs-turns-into-massive-meth-bust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/traffic-stop-on-i-70-in-glenwood-springs-turns-into-massive-meth-bust\/","title":{"rendered":"Traffic stop on I-70 in Glenwood Springs turns into massive meth bust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">A traffic stop along Interstate 70 in Glenwood Springs turned into a massive drug bust Monday when Colorado State Patrol troopers found 100 pounds of methamphetamine in a Honda minivan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The arresting trooper observed the driver, identified as Edgar Esquivel-Tecalco, 33, of California, making multiple traffic violations headed eastbound on I-70 just after noon Monday, according to CSP spokesperson Josh Lewis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The driver allegedly \u201cexhibited signs of criminal activity, gave consent to search his vehicle,\u201d Lewis said. The search revealed numerous packages of the illicit drug, weighing in at more than 100 pounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cThe suspect has since been taken into custody,\u201d Lewis said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">He said he was not aware of any weapons found in the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The methamphetamine haul is far larger than a recent TRIDENT law enforcement action where 12 suspects were arrested.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"><a id=\"N0x2c61b70N0x2cffed0:N0x2c61b70N0x2b3a520\" href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/arrests-made-in-drug-investigation\/\">In that bust<\/a>, law enforcement agencies seized approximately 471.8 grams of heroin, 131.7 grams of methamphetamine, 54 grams of cocaine, and one loaded handgun from 12 suspects in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"><span class=\"Body Copy Italic\"><a href=\"mailto:tphippen@postindependent.com\">tphippen@postindependent.com<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/traffic-stop-on-i-70-in-glenwood-springs-turns-into-massive-meth-bust\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: The Aspen Times<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A traffic stop along Interstate 70 in Glenwood Springs turned into a massive drug bust Monday when Colorado State Patrol troopers found 100 pounds of methamphetamine in a Honda minivan.
