It\u2019s a bright, optimistic tune calling for unity in the age of Trump. Much like the previous <em>Colorado<\/em> single \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/neil-young-crazy-horse-milky-way-878412\/\">Milky Way<\/a>,\u201d it is quite mellow by the usually loud standards of Crazy Horse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea of the song is that we all belong together,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/neilyoungarchives.com\/news\/1\/article?id=Rainbow-Of-Colors-Colorado\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Young wrote on his Neil Young Archives website.<\/a> \u201cSeparating us into races and colors is an idea whose time has passed. With the Earth under the direct influence of Climate Chance, we are in crisis together needing to realize we are all one. Our leaders continually fail to make this point. Preoccupied with their own agendas, they don\u2019t see the forest for the trees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Colorado<\/em> is the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/neil-young-and-crazy-horse\/\" id=\"auto-tag_neil-young-and-crazy-horse\" data-tag=\"neil-young-and-crazy-horse\">Neil Young and Crazy Horse<\/a> album since 2012\u2019s <em>Psychedelic Pill<\/em>, and the first since guitarist Frank \u201cPoncho\u201d Sampedro retired from the group. He has been replaced by Nils Lofgren, who has played with Young going all the way back to <em>After The Gold Rush<\/em> in 1970. This new lineup of the band first played together on a California theater tour in 2018 and they cut <em>Colorado<\/em> at Studio in the Clouds near Telluride, Colorado earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>An arena tour was originally booked for later this year, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/neil-young-postpones-2019-tour-plans-announces-film-projects-866059\/\">Young said he was pushing it back<\/a> so he could focus on a series of archival concert films and documentaries. And in a recent note, Young hinted that he\u2019s already looking ahead to Crazy Horse\u2019s next record. \u201cAnother one is coming,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI can feel it. It\u2019s a new generation for the Horse.
