Springsteen on Broadway<\/em><\/a> and Leaving Neverland<\/a> were among the winners of Creative Arts Emmy Awards Saturday, while Beyonc\u00e9 was shut out in all six categories her concert film Homecoming<\/em> was nominated in.<\/p>\n

Leaving Neverland<\/em>, HBO\u2019s two-part documentary detailing two men\u2019s sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson, won the Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, defeating nominees that included Netflix\u2019s Fyre Festival documentary.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been quite a journey for this doc. It began with an obscure reference in a web page to two young men I\u2019d never heard of before,\u201d Leaving Neverland director Dan Reed said in his acceptance speech (via Deadline<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\u201cNone of this would have been possible without the incredible courage and determination of Wade [Robson] and James [Safechuck] and their families, and I wanted to salute that. This is one of the first times we\u2019ve been able to shine light on child sexual abuse\u2026 the pattern of how it unfolds is not an easy story to tell\u2026 it often remains undisclosed for so many decades, so I thank them from the bottom of my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Reed lost in the Outstanding Directing for a Documentary\/Nonfiction Program to the Free Solo<\/em> team.<\/p>\n

Thom Zimny, the director of Bruce Springsteen<\/a>\u2019s Netflix concert film of his Broadway residency, won the Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special; Beyonc\u00e9 was also nominated in the category for co-directing Homecoming<\/em>.<\/p>\n

However, both Springsteen on Broadway<\/em> and Homecoming<\/em> lost in the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-recorded) category, where James Corden\u2019s Carpool Karaoke<\/em> special with Paul McCartney won the Emmy.<\/p>\n

Homecoming<\/em> was also passed over in four other categories: Outstanding Music Direction (winner, Fosse\/Verdon<\/em>), Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming (RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race<\/em>), Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special (Rent<\/em>) and Best Writing for a Variety Special (Hannah Gadsby\u2019s Nanette<\/em>), the Hollywood Reporter<\/em> writes<\/a>. Beyonc\u00e9 herself has been nominated for eight Emmys over her career but has never won the award.<\/p>\n

The main Emmy Awards<\/a> will take place in a September 22nd televised event in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
