Following his romantic Valentine\u2019s Day serenade<\/a> for Kanye West<\/a> and Kim Kardashian, Kenny G<\/a> confirmed that he has since been in the studio with the rapper, The Dallas Observer<\/em><\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

\u201c[West] reached out to me and wanted me to come and do that,\u201d the saxophonist said of the intimate Valentine\u2019s Day performance, in which he surprised Kardashian by playing in their home surrounded by roses<\/a>. \u201cI didn\u2019t know him real well, but I was obviously flattered. He could not have been more welcoming.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since then, Kenny G has joined West in the studio, although he wouldn\u2019t confirm if the collaboration would appear on West\u2019s newly-announced ninth LP, Jesus Is King.<\/em><\/a> \u201cI can\u2019t really say much else because he doesn\u2019t really want anyone to talk about music before he releases it,\u201d he said. \u201cJust suffice to say that we\u2019re collaborating on some things, and nobody knows what\u2019s going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kenny G first raised the possibility of working with West as he warmed up for his Valentine\u2019s Day performance. \u201cWell, when he walked in, I was playing my sax, so I figured I would just play to him,\u201d he told Rolling Stone<\/em> hours after the special gig. \u201cSo I started playing some really sweet blues riffs and soulful riffs and a couple of jazz riffs, and I could see he thought it was really good. I said something like, \u2018This kind of sound would be really great with some of your music.\u2019 And he said, \u2018Yeah, maybe we can go to the studio and check it out.’\u201d<\/p>\n

West recently brought his Sunday Service to Chicago<\/a>, where he recruited Chance the Rapper to join the choir for \u201cUltralight Beam,\u201d the duo\u2019s collaboration from Life of Pablo<\/em>. Jesus Is King<\/em> will be released on September 27th.<\/p>\n

Kenny G is currently working on a new album called New Standards<\/em>, a follow-up to 2015\u2019s Brazilian Nights<\/em>. He\u2019s also on a North American fall tour<\/a>, which includes a five-night stint at Blue Note Napa from December 27th through New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n
