Cory Gardner, R-Colo., says the BLM office in Grand Junction comes with 27 jobs moving there.<\/strong><br \/><em>AP file photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>GRAND JUNCTION (AP) \u2014 The Bureau of Land Management has signed a lease agreement in Colorado to solidify relocation of its headquarters from the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gjsentinel.com\/news\/western_colorado\/blm-leases-horizon-drive-space\/article_fa1146b0-dc2b-11e9-81bb-20677ce07cb4.html\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;Friday that U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner announced the decision Friday saying it would bring at least 27 positions to Grand Junction.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican representative says moving the headquarters would strengthen the agency\u2019s relationship with local officials and move decision makers closer to the lands and people they work with so they can make more informed decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Some who oppose the decision say the move could diminish the agency\u2019s voice in the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>Details of the lease agreement were not yet available, but the 10,000-square-foot property was listed online for about $25 for every square foot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/blm-signs-lease-for-headquarters-location-relocation-to-grand-junction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: The Aspen Times<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
