Prana Supreme Diggs, 18, may have grown up the daughter of hip-hop<\/a> royalty \u2014 Wu-Tang Clan<\/a> leader RZA<\/a> and Wu-Tang vocalist Tekitha Washington \u2014 but she\u2019s a born rock & roll fan. So, it\u2019s only natural that she and her mother have their own rock-tinged duo, Tekitha and Prana.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe kind of music I was first drawn to was rock music,\u201d she tells Rolling Stone<\/em> in our original video (above). \u201cMy dad and my mom both listen to so much rock, and I think they\u2019re both rock stars in their own right.\u201d As such, Supreme is a big fan of such bands as Queens of the Stone Age and System of a Down \u2014 and, of course, head-banging.<\/p>\n

Diggs had an early start when it came to making music; she got in the game at age three. When she was 15, she teamed up with Washington to form their own band. The duo lived in Nashville, Tennessee, as the time, which Diggs says had a direct influence on the kind of music they chose to make.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t really know it was Americana music going into it,\u201d she says. \u201cThe musicians that have been helping us craft the sound have interjected that Nashvilleness to it and that Americananess to it. It\u2019s been a perfect \u2014 and very natural \u2014 fit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite her predilection for rock & roll, Diggs has always felt the influence of Wu-Tang on her life; she even went into the studio with them more than once. \u201cI still listen to the 36 Chambers<\/em> album all the time,\u201d she says. \u201cThat\u2019s great music.\u201d<\/p>\n

And although she is very much her parents\u2019 child, Diggs is clearly her own person. \u201c[Social activism] plays even more of a role in my daily life,\u201d she says. \u201cWhen I think about opening a clothing brand, I think about, \u2018OK, I want this to be sustainable clothing.\u2019 In addition to being an artist, she\u2019s is also Creative Director of 36 Chambers Clothing.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeeing my dad delve into film\u2026 and acting\u2026 he\u2019s really getting to do all the things that he wants to do,\u201d she says. Now I get to do that at 18. I have a lot of interests and I don\u2019t think, as of right now, I can imagine a world where I give up any of them \u2014 it\u2019s food, it\u2019s fashion, it\u2019s music, it\u2019s creative directing. I just have so many ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n
