So, winter is coming after all, and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/arapahoe-basin-ski-area-readies-snow-guns-loveland-ski-area-keystone-resort-not-far-behind\/\">race to open<\/a>&nbsp;is in full swing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At A-Basin, the wet bulb temperature dropped to 25 degrees, according to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/arapahoebasin.blogspot.com\/\">Al\u2019s Blog<\/a>, which is written by A-Basin CEO Alan Henceroth. Humidity also was low, which makes for prime snowmaking conditions, he said. Henceroth also wrote that A-Basin hopes for a \u201cproductive snowmaking weekend.\u201d Forecasts show A-Basin summit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onthesnow.com\/colorado\/arapahoe-basin-ski-area\/weather.html\">temperatures as low as 17 degrees over the weekend<\/a>. The resort&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/arapahoe-basin-ski-area-begins-snowmaking\/\">began testing its snow guns Sept. 22<\/a>, but Wednesday marked the official start of snowmaking.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just down Loveland Pass, Keystone also was able to get some snow flying. Keystone\u2019s snow guns started up in earnest on the High Noon run early Wednesday.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onthesnow.com\/colorado\/keystone\/weather.html\">Keystone\u2019s summit temperatures<\/a>&nbsp;are expected to be as low as 21 degrees over the weekend and 19 degrees Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Loveland Ski Area previously designated Sept. 29 as its snowmaking start date, but this exact day wasn\u2019t in the cards for the ski area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTemperatures didn\u2019t cooperate this year, so we\u2019re starting later,\u201d Loveland spokesperson John Sellers said. \u201cWe had some cold temperatures last night and started testing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sellers said that after testing the snow guns Tuesday night, they plan to fire them back up Wednesday night as the temperatures are forecast to be as low as 35 degrees at the base Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/arapahoe-basin-ski-area-and-keystone-ski-resort-start-snowmaking-race-to-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: The Aspen Times<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arapahoe Basin Ski Area began snowmaking at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 on the High Noon run.Courtesy photo Arapahoe Basin Ski Area FRISCO \u2014 It\u2019s unseasonably warm down-valley with 70 degree October days, but up at Keystone Ski Resort and Arapahoe Basin Ski Area temperatures dropped low enough early Wednesday to start cranking out snow.
