{"id":2449877,"date":"2019-10-14T22:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-10-15T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/3a-a-win-win-for-basalt\/"},"modified":"2019-10-15T13:31:44","modified_gmt":"2019-10-15T19:31:44","slug":"3a-a-win-win-for-basalt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/3a-a-win-win-for-basalt\/","title":{"rendered":"3A a win-win for Basalt"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/02\/facebook-thumbnail-1200.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Basalt citizens should vote \u201cyes\u201d on item 3A.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Going into the November elections most of Basalt has heard or read about the misinterpretation of Colorado\u2019s TABOR law and the resulting over-collection of property taxes in prior years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Current Basalt property owners affected by the prior over-collection will start receiving refund checks pertaining to the last four years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">But with the resolution of past problems in process, citizens must look forward to 2020 and beyond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The wording of the Colorado TABOR law requires that the town obtain citizen approval to continue operating at the current mill levy rate of 5.957, though that rate does not represent a tax increase.
