The Black Madonna said she is \u201cfurious\u201d over Amazon<\/a>\u2019s involvement in the Intersect music and tech festival<\/a> in Las Vegas, claiming that the tech giant was never mentioned in the contracts she signed for the event.<\/p>\n

In a series<\/a> of<\/a> tweets<\/a> yesterday, the Black Madonna expressed her exasperation with the situation, saying: \u201cWhat the fuck is this Amazon shit? I absolutely didn\u2019t agree to this. Oh hell no\u2026 My head is going to explode. I\u2019m so furious right now\u2026 If you were shocked I\u2019d play for Amazon, well that makes two of us. Please be patient and while I burn some bridges.\u201d<\/p>\n

While interacting with fans, the Black Madonna claimed that Amazon\u2019s involvement in Intersect was \u201con NONE of the offers or paperwork\u201d she signed. Resident Advisor<\/a> reportedly obtained a document from the festival that backed up the Black Madonna\u2019s claim. The document does not mention Amazon or Amazon Web Services at any point and, instead, describes the event as a \u201ccollaboration between FORM and Production Club\u201d (Production Club has produced<\/a> other<\/a> Amazon<\/a> events in the past).<\/p>\n

And while the Amazon Web Services logo is featured prominently on the latest Intersect festival poster, the Black Madonna re-tweeted<\/a> an earlier version<\/a> of the flier where the only hint of Amazon\u2019s involvement was buried in the festival website\u2019s URL: intersect.aws.<\/p>\n

Representatives for Amazon and the Black Madonna did not immediately return Rolling Stone<\/i>\u2018s request for comment.<\/p>\n

Along with feeling duped about who was behind Intersect, the Black Madonna also condemned Amazon and some of its questionable practices. After a fan asked her and other artists to denounce, among other things, Amazon\u2019s hosting of ICE databases<\/a>, its exploitation of delivery drivers<\/a> and its fight to squash a local Seattle tax<\/a> that would have helped fight the city\u2019s homelessness crisis, the Black Madonna replied<\/a>, \u201cI absolutely denounce it and to reiterate, I have no idea what\u2019s going on here. I have no idea what the fuck is going on but I\u2019m about to find the fuck out and I suggest that everyone else do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amazon officially announced Intersect Wednesday afternoon. The two-day event is scheduled to take place December 6th and 7th in Las Vegas with the lineup also featuring the Foo Fighters, Kacey Musgraves, Beck, Jamie XX, Anderson. Paak, Sophie, Weyes Blood, JPEGMAFIA, Chvrches, Brandi Carlile, Flying Lotus, Japanese Breakfast, Kaytranada, Thundercat, Spoon and more.<\/p>\n

So far, no other artists have expressed any frustration with the event or signaled that they, too, were unaware that Amazon was involved when they agreed to perform.<\/p>\n
