Following an uproar from Mot\u00f6rhead\u2019s fans and surviving members, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has added drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell to the list of eligible band members on the ballot for the class of 2020 nominations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Both Dee and Campbell weren\u2019t included in the band\u2019s original nomination \u2013 the ballot only recognized original members Lemmy Kilmister, \u201cFast\u201d Eddie Clarke and Phil \u201cPhilthy Animal\u201d Taylor \u2013 even though they were in Mot\u00f6rhead longer than the musicians they replaced.<\/p>\n

Following news of the nomination change, Mot\u00f6rhead posted on Twitter expressing their gratitude: \u201cThanks to everyone who spoke up loudly. Thanks to the Rock Hall<\/a> for listening and adding Phil and Mikkey. All for one and one for all!\u201d<\/p>\n

While no official statement has come from the Hall of Fame itself, but Dee and Campbell have since been added to the band\u2019s biography, which previously only listed Lemmy, \u201cFast\u201d Eddie Clarke and Phil \u201cPhilthy Animal\u201d Taylor. Clarke, the last surviving original member of Mot\u00f6rhead until his death in January 2018, left the band in 1983, while Taylor\u2019s tenure ended in 1992; both Kilmister and Taylor died in 2015.<\/p>\n

The updated bio<\/a> now reads: \u201cMot\u00f6rhead experienced two distinct eras, first in the \u201870s and then in the \u201880s, \u201890s and beyond. Phil Campbell (guitar) and Mikkey Dee (drums) joined the band in that second era and pushed their sound into new directions. Campbell joined the band in 1983 for the No Remorse<\/em> album and stayed with the band till the very end, playing on a number of classic killer albums that redefined Motorhead<\/a> including Orgasmatron<\/em>, Rock and Roll<\/em> (which includes the very important track \u201cKilled By Death\u201d),1916<\/em>, and Bastards<\/em>. Dee joined in 1992 and became the defining rock drummer sound for the last era of Mot\u00f6rhead. His first full album with the band was the classic Bastards<\/em>. In his autobiography, Lemmy referred to Bastards<\/em> as \u2018one of the best albums we ever did.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Before the revision, Dee told Billboard<\/em><\/a> that the members\u2019 Hall of Fame snub was \u201cpure wrong,\u201d adding \u201cI know Phil will be very disappointed, too. We\u2019ve been carrying the flag for 25 years together, and actually brought Mot\u00f6rhead to what it was. We did 25 years out of the 40. The original band lasted just a few years. They started it off, but as Lemmy said himself they wouldn\u2019t have lasted another six months doing that lineup. I don\u2019t think we would\u2019ve been where we are today without the 25 years we spent touring.\u201d Campbell refrained from commenting on the initial exclusion.<\/p>\n

Other nominations for the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame include Notorious B.I.G., Whitney Houston<\/a>, Pat Benatar<\/a>, Dave Matthews Band<\/a>, Depeche Mode<\/a>, the Doobie Brothers<\/a>, Judas Priest<\/a>, Kraftwerk<\/a>, MC5<\/a>, Mot\u00f6rhead, Nine Inch Nails<\/a>, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Todd Rundgren<\/a>, Soundgarden<\/a>, T. Rex<\/a>, and Thin Lizzy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With public voting currently happening now, the induction ceremony will take place May 2nd, 2020 at Cleveland\u2019s Public Hall.<\/p>\n
