Early results show voters overwhelmingly supporting annexation of the
\nSalida School District into Colorado Mountain College\u2019s taxing district
\nboundary.<\/p>\n

As of 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, approximately 58 percent of Salida School
\nDistrict voters supported the annexation whereas just over 41 percent
\nopposed it.<\/p>\n

Additionally, voters within Colorado Mountain College\u2019s boundaries overwhelmingly supported the annexation with 77 percent favoring it and just 23 percent rejecting it.<\/p>\n

Both Ballot Question 5A that applied to just Salida School District
\nvoters, and Ballot Question 7A that included all Colorado Mountain
\nCollege District voters had to pass in order for the annexation to
\noccur. <\/p>\n

Previously, residents within the Salida School District had to pay $170 per credit hour at Colorado Mountain College whereas those that lived within the six-county taxing district only paid $80. <\/p>\n

The reason being, residents within Colorado Mountain College\u2019s taxing
\ndistrict already pay a 3.997 mill levy, which supports the college.<\/p>\n

Now that voters have approved the annexation, Salida School District
\nresidents will also pay a 3.997 mill levy and $80 per credit hour.<\/p>\n

The addition of the Salida School District will have no impact on
\ncurrent taxpayers within Colorado Mountain College\u2019s taxing district. <\/p>\n

The Steamboat Springs School District was the last school district to
\nbe successfully annexed into Colorado Mountain College\u2019s taxing
\ndistrict, which occurred in 1982.<\/p>\n
