High school volunteers also lent their support in helping Little Buddies create their masterpieces.

On Friday, Dec. 6, Gorsuch Ski Café presented a Gorsuch and Gingerbread Fundraiser — new this year — with gingerbread house decorating, holiday shopping, aperitifs and appetizers.

The next day, Third Street Center in Carbondale played host to the workshops, followed by Sunday, Dec. 8, at The Little Nell in Aspen.

Helen Fifield with AllSetAspen led Buddies through the activities, as they decorated their creations with candy and confections of every flavor. At the end, each child got to take his or her gingerbread house home to share with family and friends.

Thanks to many generous individuals and business sponsors from the Aspen community, these events were free for all while serving as a significant source of revenue for the nonprofit. Last year more than $100,000 was raised for the Buddy Program, which has been serving youth in the Roaring Fork Valley community for 46 years. The Buddy Program runs five programs throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, including one-on-one mentoring, group/experiential mentoring, and financial literacy education.
