When Aaron and Anne Badolato moved from the Denver area to Glenwood Springs, the financial planner and registered nurse realized something was missing.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018There are no doughnut shops,\u2019\u201d Anne Badolato recalled her husband saying. \u201cSo, that\u2019s how it began.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2014, Aaron and Anne Badolato opened Sweet Coloradough at 2430 S. Glen Ave. in Glenwood Springs.<\/p>\n

Additionally, this past weekend, Sweet Coloradough celebrated its Rifle location\u2019s grand opening.<\/p>\n

Located at 234 Railroad Ave., Sweet Coloradough\u2019s Rifle shop serves handcrafted doughnuts, coffee and breakfast burritos between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat hopefully will increase,\u201d Anne Badolato said. \u201cWe like to start slow to see how everything goes and see what the response is.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Badolato, during Sweet Coloradough\u2019s busier stretches, the mom and pop doughnut shop sometimes prepares between 2,000 and 10,000 donuts daily.<\/p>\n

When over 40,000 people viewed Sweet Coloradough\u2019s Facebook post promoting its grand opening in Rifle, Badolato, admitted being a little concerned.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018Oh, my god,\u2019\u201d Anne Badolato laughed.<\/p>\n

Luckily, not everyone showed up at once Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Instead, consistent crowds throughout Friday and Saturday made for an opening weekend Badolato described as going \u201cvery smoothly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt never felt really super crowded in there,\u201d Anne Badolato said. \u201cEveryone was so happy for us to be there and so nice.\u201d<\/p>\n

At Sweet Coloradough in Rifle, customers may choose from an assortment of sweet treats ranging from traditional, lightly sweetened cake doughnuts to eight-hour fritters and 11-layer \u201ccroughnuts\u201d known for their crispy, flakey croissant texture.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we\u2019re doing our cake donuts, we\u2019re literally making the cake batter that you\u2019d make a cake out of,\u201d Anne Badolato said. \u201cThe yeast doughnuts, I call those my \u2018pillows of love.\u2019 They are so soft and the dough is fabulous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Located in the heart of Rifle, Anne Badolato said she was looking forward to watching Sweet Coloradough grow even more in the local community.<\/p>\n

Additionally, with the exception of being closed on Tuesdays, Sweet Coloradough\u2019s Glenwood Springs location remains open between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily.<\/p>\n
