Recordings from Elton John<\/a>, Public Enemy<\/a>, Joni Mitchell<\/a>, the Police and the Allman Brothers Band are among the 26 titles added to the Grammy Hall of Fame<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

The new inductees include John\u2019s 1972 classic \u201cTiny Dancer,\u201d Mitchell\u2019s 1969 album Clouds<\/i>, Public Enemy\u2019s 1988 album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back<\/i>, The Police\u2019s 1983 hit \u201cEvery Breath You Take\u201d and the Allman Brothers\u2019 1972 record, Eat a Peach<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Each year, the Grammy Hall of Fame inducts a select mix of singles and albums that are at least 25 years old and \u201cexhibit qualitative or historical significance.\u201d Since it started 47 years ago, the Hall has amassed 1,114 recordings, which are on display at the Grammy Museum.<\/p>\n

The 2020 Hall of Fame class covers a diverse mix of genres and includes selections that date back as far as the Twenties. Among the earliest recordings are jazz pioneer James P. Johnson\u2019s 1921 song \u201cCarolina Shout,\u201d folk artist Blind Alfred Reed\u2019s 1929 protest song \u201cHow Can a Poor Man Stand Such Times and Live?\u201d and Delta blues artist Skip James\u2019 1931 recording \u201cDevil Got My Woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

It Takes a Nation <\/i>of Millions, <\/i>released in 1988, is most contemporary addition, while other more recent selections include the Eurythmics\u2019 1983 song \u201cSweet Dreams (Are Made of This)\u201d and Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard\u2019s 1982 version of \u201cPancho and Lefty.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other selections include Neil Diamond\u2019s \u201cSweet Caroline,\u201d Patsy Cline\u2019s \u201cWalkin\u2019 After Midnight,\u201d Dick Dale and the Del-Tones\u2019 \u201cMiserlou,\u201d Devo\u2019s Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!<\/i>, Bo Diddley\u2019s \u201cI\u2019m a Man,\u201d Peter Frampton\u2019s Frampton Comes Alive! <\/i>and Nancy Sinatra\u2019s \u201cThese Boots Are Made for Walkin.\u201d<\/p>\n
