Or perhaps you\u2019ve elbowed your way through the crowd to the bar at the week\u2019s popular apr\u00e8s-ski parties,\u201d an Aspen Times article for the special Gay Ski Week insert in 2000 read. \u201cBut, this year as every year, there\u2019s a lot more to Gay &amp; Lesbian Ski Week than what happens on and just off the mountains. In fact, there are dozens of parties, gatherings and cultural events that have no connection to \u2018skiing,\u2019 but add to the variety of fun (and thought-provoking) activities for the thousands of visitors who flock to Aspen for this annual event.\u201d explained The Aspen Times. As one of the many Aspen Gay and Lesbian Ski Week events, contestants did participate in a ski activity; they raced giant slalom at Snowmass Mountain\u2019s Spider Sabich race area for \u201cDay on the Mountain: Snowmass; Sports Day ski &amp; snowboard races with Team Colorado\u201d held Jan. 26, 2000.
