The Beastie Boys<\/a> introduce themselves in a teaser for the upcoming Spike Jonze<\/a>-directed documentary. Titled Beastie Boys Story<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> the live documentary will hit IMAX on April 3rd for a limited time, before streaming on Apple+ on April 24th.<\/p>\n

The clip opens with Adam \u201cAd-Rock\u201d Horovitz rapping the opening lines to their 1986 song \u201cPaul Revere\u201d (\u201cNow here\u2019s a little story I\u2019ve got to tell\/About three bad brothers you know so well\u201d) as Adam \u201cMCA\u201d Yauch and Michael \u201cMike D\u201d Diamond sit next to him on the couch. Vintage clips of the hip-hop trio flash across the screen.<\/p>\n

The documentary is a live extension of 2018\u2019s Beastie Boys Book,<\/em> a memoir that paid tribute to Yauch, who died of cancer in 2012. \u201cLooking back, it\u2019s like, oh shit, that was crazy \u2014 how did we live through that?\u201d Horovitz told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> of the memoir. \u201cAnd look at us now. We\u2019re grown-ups. We have to think about mortgages. I gotta get dog food.\u201d<\/p>\n

Live portions of the documentary were taken from Horovitz and Diamond\u2019s recent show<\/a> at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn; it was all part of a live tour directed by Jonze that consisted of Q&A segments, readings, and guest moderators.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are some friends you have lunch with so many times over the years, you know their order,\u201d Diamond and Horovitz recently said in a statement. \u201cSpike is one of those friends. And even when you don\u2019t recognize anything on the menu, he comes up with something good for the whole table. Like when we wondered what to do when our book comes out \u2026 then Spike placed his order: \u2018You will put on a show for the children.\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n
