Councilmembers Steve Davis, Tony Hershey, Rick Voorhees, Charlie Willman, Mayor Jonathan Godes and Mayor Pro Tem Shelley Kaup voted in favor of the project\u2019s proposal. Councilwoman Paula Stepp voted against it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Stepp\u2019s concerns largely centered on parking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cLet\u2019s take care of the people moving into these places to the degree that we can,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The proposed project was expected to provide 101 parking spaces but fell six short of that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The forthcoming 89-unit apartment building, which includes three floors of studio and one-bedroom apartments on top of a lower level parking garage, will be developed along the north side of Wulfsohn Road between East Meadows Drive and Market Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cI\u2019m glad to see that we have workforce there,\u201d Willman said. \u201cI suspect a lot of those people are working two jobs to make that work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">According to Myers, the Loft\u2019s earlier phases filled up faster than any other project in Realty Capital\u2019s 30-year history as a company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Based out of Irving, Texas, Realty Capital\u2019s portfolio features predominately residential and commercial properties throughout Texas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cRents range from about $1,500 to about $2,500 a month or so,\u201d Myers said. \u201cThey are not officially affordable per, you know, an affordable housing unit, but actually they\u2019re very affordable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">According to loftsatredmountain.com, a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit at the Lofts costs between $2,960 and $3,080 a month to rent. A 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit at the Lofts rents for between $2,355 and $2,980 a month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cThis is working,\u201d Myers said. \u201cEven without rent control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Only one member of the public came forward to talk about the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cI don\u2019t think these rents are affordable,\u201d said longtime Glenwood Springs resident Michael Hoban. \u201cI think the prices are ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"><span class=\"Body Copy Italic\"><a href=\"mailto:mabennett@postindependent.com\">mabennett@postindependent.com<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/local\/council-approves-lofts-at-red-mountain-phase-iii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: The Aspen Times<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nurses, teachers, baristas, ski patrollers and budtenders.
