{"id":2455015,"date":"2020-02-25T23:04:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T06:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/three-mile-area-home-a-loss-after-fire\/"},"modified":"2020-02-25T23:04:00","modified_gmt":"2020-02-26T06:04:00","slug":"three-mile-area-home-a-loss-after-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/three-mile-area-home-a-loss-after-fire\/","title":{"rendered":"Three-Mile area home a loss after fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image p402_hide\">\n<div class=\"caption-container\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"699\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/housefire-gpi-022620-1024x699.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-post-image\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/housefire-gpi-022620-1024x699.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/housefire-gpi-022620-300x205.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/housefire-gpi-022620-768x524.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/housefire-gpi-022620-1536x1049.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/housefire-gpi-022620-2048x1398.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"><figcaption><strong>Glenwood Springs Firefighter Harlan Nimmo heads back to the firetruck while battling a mobile home fire in the three-mile area just outside of Glenwood Springs City Limits on Tuesday morning.<\/strong><br \/><em>Chelsea Self \/ Post Independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Glenwood Springs Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the Three-Mile area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cIt was in Garfield County,\u201d Glenwood Springs Fire Chief Gary Tillotson said. \u201cIt\u2019s in the Glenwood Springs Rural Fire Protection District.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">According to a news release issued by the Glenwood Springs Fire Department, upon arriving on scene, firefighters were met with heavy smoke emanating from a mobile home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cThe original 911 call came from a neighbor,\u201d Tillotson said. \u201cShe was a little bit uncertain as to who may or may not actually be in the (mobile home).\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Firefighters immediately searched the residence, as it continued to burn, and were able to confirm no one was inside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Within 20 minutes, firefighters had substantially extinguished the blaze Tillotson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cIt took another hour or hour-and-a-half for final mop-up but they had initial knockdown in about 20 minutes or less,\u201d Tillotson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">According to Tillotson, no people or pets were injured as a result of Tuesday morning\u2019s mobile home fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Tillotson did say however that the mobile home would be a \u201ctotal loss\u201d due to significant smoke, fire and water damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Tillotson believed approximately 25% of the mobile home sustained flame and water damage but extensive smoke damage throughout the mobile home resulted in a total loss.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Glenwood Springs Fire Department was dispatched to the structure fire at \u201caround 9:32 a.m.\u201d according to the news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Colorado River Fire Rescue and the Carbondale &amp; Rural Fire Protection District also provided mutual aid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe had one of Glenwood Springs\u2019 water tenders and then we had a water tender from Carbondale hauling water,\u201d Tillotson said. \u201cWe feel like we probably used about 3,000 gallons of water.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">According to Tillotson, none of the adjacent properties in the area were damaged due to the fire;
