The Leafs\u2019 19U AA girls hockey team won its second straight CAHA Tier-2 state championship and will move onto the Rocky Mountain District Championship, which goes from March 19-22 in Phoenix.<\/p>\n<p>In the double elimination state tournament, the Leafs went 3-0 with wins over Littleton (6-0), Boulder (3-2) and the Colorado Select (3-0). Laney Martens led the team with five points (two goals, three assists). Goalie Sammie Jaworski stopped 54 of 56 shots against her.<\/p>\n<p>Should the Leafs win the district title, they would advance to the USA Hockey national tournament in West Chester, Pennsylvania, next month. AJH has sent the 16U AA girls to nationals the past two years, with many of those players now competing on this year\u2019s 19U AA team.<\/p>\n<p>Also coming away with a title this past weekend was the AJH squirt B boys, who beat top-seeded Summit in the playoff final, 4-2, to take the WCHL crown. Colton Jones scored two goals in the finale, including the game-winner. Diggs Weldon led the Leafs during the tournament with nine points (seven goals, two assists). The squirts finished league play with a 12-3-1 overall record.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText HeadLarge\">Aspen Skating Club to host its spring shows Saturday at ARC<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspenfigureskatingclub.com\/\">Aspen Skating Club<\/a> will hold its annual spring show on Saturday, dubbed \u201cFrozen: Adventures on Ice.\u201d The characters are based off Disney\u2019s Frozen and will feature more than 50 local skaters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">Joining them will be Olympian and U.S. champion Mirai Nagasu, as well as Alexander Johnson, a international junior medalist. Nagasu and Johnson have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/olympian-mirai-nagasu-the-main-star-for-aspen-skating-club-spring-show\/\">both skated with the club in the past<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">There will be two shows to choose from, one at 2 p.m. and the other at 5:30 p.m. Both will be held at Lewis Ice Arena inside the Aspen Recreation Center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">On-ice seating starts at $35 and off-ice seating at $10. Children 4-and-under are free.
