With people laying low with extra time because of the coronavirus, we\u2019ve received a few poem submissions last week. Below is a sampling.<\/p>\n

Commander in Tweet<\/p>\n

He is a Bullet Proof<\/p>\n

Egomaniac \u2026<\/p>\n

He is Teflon coated<\/p>\n

Nothing sticks<\/p>\n

Cause nothing means<\/p>\n

Anything to him<\/p>\n

While every body else<\/p>\n

Is selling toilet paper<\/p>\n

On the streets<\/p>\n

A dollar a sheet<\/p>\n

The little birdie<\/p>\n

In his head<\/p>\n

Tweet..tweet..tweet<\/p>\n

The Fog<\/p>\n

I\u2019d like to share a poem written by Chapin Wright during his Outward-Bound School in Maine, 1971:<\/p>\n

\u201cMother nature has let us flounder all night lost in the fog. We fight our way, she is telling us with the fog that life is not always a direct sighting. You don\u2019t always know where you are or where you are going. You can only keep fighting on, with a smile, until it breaks, and the new light is seen. Then you are on your way again, it may be in a new direction, but it is life. Thanks for the fog \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

I am writing on behalf of the Chapin Wright\/Flatirons board. We are in the process of reading the applications for the 2020 recipient of this scholarship. Unfortunately, Chapin was tragically killed in an automobile accident on the way to the senior party. The scholarship committee felt that Chapin exemplified the qualities that the scholarship represents and to this day the scholarship has been renamed in his memory. The criteria for the scholarship is: an Aspen High School senior who shows qualities of leadership, in the areas of the athletic, academic and within the social fabric of the high school community.<\/p>\n

This year all of the board members at different times have been wanting to read and reread this poem. It was written when Chapin was 18 years old. How relevant it was when he wrote it in 1971 and how it is seems even more relevant today. We have to believe that the fog will lift and somewhere, somehow while we are in the fog, the world will be a better place when it lifts.<\/p>\n

Vertigo rules<\/p>\n

Vertigo \u2026 vertigo \u2026 is it yes or is it no?<\/p>\n

Are you sick \u2026 am I well?<\/p>\n

How in hell can we tell<\/p>\n

When getting tested is so slow<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t know, I don\u2019t know<\/p>\n

What to do \u2026 where to go?<\/p>\n

No wonder we\u2019ve got vertigo<\/p>\n

The economy, you and me<\/p>\n

So, confused we\u2019re all dizzy<\/p>\n

Showmanship ain\u2019t leadership<\/p>\n

More BS means less progress<\/p>\n

The number of deaths is sure to swell<\/p>\n

If we don\u2019t wash our hands real well<\/p>\n

Hospitals don\u2019t have the space<\/p>\n

So, quarantine the human race<\/p>\n

Life is now upside down<\/p>\n

And lies won\u2019t turn all this around<\/p>\n

Blame this \u2026 blame that<\/p>\n

Complete confusion is where we\u2019re at<\/p>\n

Cause all we know is vertigo<\/p>\n

Vertigo \u2026 vertigo \u2026 is it yes or is it no?<\/p>\n

Are you sick \u2026 am I well?<\/p>\n

How in hell can we tell<\/p>\n

Ignorance isn\u2019t bliss<\/p>\n

They want to wash their hands of this<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t know, I don\u2019t know<\/p>\n

If death will end our vertigo<\/p>\n
