expected to appropriate $200,000 in emergency funds for local residents impacted by the COVID-19 crisis while conducting its regular meeting electronically to comply with public health orders demanding social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"><a id=\"N0x15a27e0N0x17aedd0:N0x15a27e0N0x158d6f8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/novel-coronavirus-qa-with-aspen-city-manager-sara-ott\/\">City Manager Sara Ott told The Aspen Times last week<\/a> that the economic relief assistance for individuals and families in the city will be administered through Pitkin County Human Services with an intergovernmental agreement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The city\u2019s contribution will leverage additional county, state and federal dollars to help people who are economically vulnerable right now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The money will help those who need help paying the rent, buying food or child care assistance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cThis won\u2019t be the only time these funding issues come up,\u201d Ott wrote in an email. \u201cThis initial recommendation is to help bridge the gap between immediate needs and possible future reimbursements to the city from state and federal relief packages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">City Council members will be allowed to participate in Tuesday\u2019s regular meeting electronically, either by phone or video conferencing, according to <a id=\"N0x15a27e0N0x17aee30:N0x15a27e0N0x158d9c8\" href=\"https:\/\/d3n9y02raazwpg.cloudfront.net\/cityofaspen\/00e94e33-0fbd-11ea-8baa-0050569183fa-da76106a-2e02-4fe6-bbb2-ae71e53e957b-1584655843.pdf\">a resolution <\/a>that elected officials will consider.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">However, at least one elected official will be present in council chambers to conduct the meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Members of the public can participate via telephone, as long as they notify the City Clerk\u2019s Office 15 minutes prior to Tuesday\u2019s 5 p.m. meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">They can do that by calling 970-920-5001 or <a href=\"mailto:citizencalls@cityofaspen.com\">citizencalls@cityofaspen.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">While the city remains under a state of emergency due to community spread of the highly contagious COVID-19, council meetings will continue to be conducted in this manner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Council meetings will continue to be broadcast to the public through <a id=\"N0x15a27e0N0x17aeef0:N0x15a27e0N0x158dd28\" href=\"https:\/\/www.grassrootstv.org\/\">GrassRoots TV<\/a>, the <a id=\"N0x15a27e0N0x17aef50:N0x15a27e0N0x158ddb8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofaspen.com\/1225\/Current-City-Webcast-Meetings-Agendas\">city\u2019s website<\/a> and <a id=\"N0x15a27e0N0x17aefb0:N0x15a27e0N0x158de48\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CityofAspen\/\">Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The city\u2019s steps are in response to public health orders issued by the state and the county that limit gatherings to 10 people or fewer, with the recommendation that they remain 6 feet apart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Restaurants and bars are limited to take-out food or delivery only and the ski areas have been shuttered for the season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Meanwhile, <a id=\"N0x15a27e0N0x17af0d0:N0x15a27e0N0x158e088\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/local\/covid-19-tests-coveted-for-most-severe-cases-in-aspen\/\">limited testing for COVID-19 is occurring<\/a> in the Aspen area due to resource constraints in the state and country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Only those with severe symptoms, or are part of the vulnerable population of being elderly or have compromised immune systems may get tested at Aspen Valley Hospital after they\u2019ve been prescreened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">People with symptoms, or think they\u2019ve been in contact with someone who have COVID-19 should isolate themselves at home between seven and 14 days, according to public health officials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">They are asked to call their physician first or the county\u2019s incident management team\u2019s hotline at 970-429-6186 where they will be prescreened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText
