The town has not had to tap into its reserves due to the coronavirus pandemic as of March 31, Kinney said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">Kinney said while he can\u2019t predict the future, he feels the town\u2019s longterm strategy of \u201cunderestimate revenues, overestimate costs\u201d will help the village make up for any financial deficits related to the COVID-19 outbreak.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">\u201cMy punch line is planning for a financial crisis doesn\u2019t start today with cuts, it starts a long time ago with strong fiscal policies,\u201d Kinney said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">In preparation for the Town Council meeting Monday, Kinney said he and the town\u2019s finance department are looking at how the coronavirus pandemic could impact 2020 tax projections, which will be presented to council and community members.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">The town also is set to formally contribute at least $100,000 to the Pitkin County COVID-19 relief fund at the Monday meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\"><a href=\"mailto:mvincent@aspentimes.com\">mvincent@aspentimes.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/snowmass\/briefs-town-commits-to-keeping-employee-paychecks-whole-through-winter-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: The Aspen Times<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Town keeps employee pay whole through winter season Despite the negative economic impacts the coronavirus pandemic has had nationally, statewide and in Snowmass Village, town manager Clint Kinney said March 31 that the town is committed to keeping employee paychecks whole for the rest of the winter season.
