Jared Polis announced he is extending Colorado\u2019s statewide stay-at-home order until at least April 26 in an unprecedented televised speech to the entire state on Monday night.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason for the April 26 date is simple: because the data and the science tells us that staying at home is our best chance, our only realistic chance, to avoid a catastrophic loss of life \u2014 the deaths of thousands of our friends, our neighbors, our family members,\u201d Polis said.<\/p>\n<p>Polis, speaking to Coloradans from the governor\u2019s mansion, said he knows that many in the state are frustrated and angry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all want a timeline,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen will this nightmare be over.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<div class=\"row at-donation at-donation-mobile p-0\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-4 p-2\">\n<div data-bg=\"url(https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/03\/AT-logo-white.png)\" class=\"p-0 mt-2 mb-2 h-75 text-center rocket-lazyload\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/03\/AT-logo-white.png\" class=\"logo m-0 p-0 invisible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-bg=\"url(https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/03\/at-banner-paypal.jpg)\" class=\"col-xl-8 p-3 text-center rocket-lazyload\">\n<h3 class=\"d-inline mr-3\">Support Local Journalism<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"btn d-inline\" type=\"button\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/donate\/?utm_source=article&amp;utm_medium=website&amp;utm_campaign=donation&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=mid-article\">Donate<\/a><\/button><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s been more than a month since the first cases of coronavirus in Colorado&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/coloradosun.com\/2020\/03\/05\/colorado-first-coronavirus-case-confirmed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">were announced on March 6<\/a><i class=\"fas fa-external-link-alt\"><\/i>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Colorado now has reported&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/coloradosun.com\/2020\/03\/08\/colorado-coronavirus-cases-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">150 deaths<\/a><i class=\"fas fa-external-link-alt\"><\/i>attributed to coronavirus, and more than 5,000 confirmed cases, though health officials say there are likely actually between 17,000 and 18,000 Coloradans who are or have been infected.
