Officials with the Pitkin County Public Health Incident Management team responded Wednesday after Aspen City Council members criticized them for how they have been disseminating information to the community during the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n

Councilman Ward Hauenstein, along with two other elected officials, said during a public meeting Monday<\/a><\/i> he\u2019s been frustrated that there\u2019s been no specificity of why there is no testing of the virus on people, or what the incident management team\u2019s efforts are in obtaining test kits and protective personal equipment for health care workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to see full disclosure and I\u2019m not seeing it,\u201d he said. \u201cI want to know, and wanted to know three weeks ago or two weeks ago, where we are in test capacity, and all we get from the incident management team is that \u2018this is what the policy is,\u2019 not why it is, not that we want to test more. \u2026 People want to know why a policy is why it is, not just \u2018this is what the policy is and quit asking.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the rest of the story is that we don\u2019t have any testing capabilities, so the people in the community, I included, are really frustrated that there\u2019s not a full communication.\u201d<\/p>\n
