They wore masks and gloves because of the coronavirus threat.<\/strong><br \/><em>Pam Schilling\/courtesy photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText HeadLarge\">Final vote counting in Basalt<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">The final tally in the Basalt Town Council <a id=\"N0x11a2360N0x1152c20:N0x11a2360N0x11a4e88\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/coronavirus-economy-will-force-new-basalt-council-to-hit-ground-running\/\">election will be undertaken Thursday<\/a> to determine the winner of a council seat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">There were 56 outstanding ballots that were either mailed overseas and hadn\u2019t been returned by the April 7 election or were local ballots cast with questions regarding the signatures, according to Town Clerk Pam Schilling. Wednesday was the last day for the remaining 36 overseas ballots to be returned. Candidate Elyse Hottel held a four-vote lead over Kirk \u201cDieter\u201d Schindler, 506 to 502.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">The other council candidates collected enough votes to secure their victories. Glenn Drummond collected 581 votes and David Knight received 575.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">In the mayor\u2019s race, <a id=\"N0x11a2360N0x1152ce0:N0x11a2360N0x11a51e8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/bill-kane-wins-basalt-mayor-election-drummond-knight-lead-in-race-for-3-council-seats\/\">winner Bill Kane\u2019s margin of victory<\/a> was large enough that the outstanding votes couldn\u2019t alter the result.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText HeadLarge\">El Jebel testing site changed<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">Due to the winter weather forecast, the location for testing for COVID-19 in El Jebel will be changed Thursday. Eagle County\u2019s mobile resource center, known as the MIRA Bus, will be located at the El Jebel Laundromat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText\">Only people experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus will be tested.
