DENVER (AP) \u2014 Several hundred people staged a peaceful protest outside Colorado\u2019s Capitol on Sunday against the state\u2019s stay-at-home order and its closures of thousands of nonessential businesses as ways to fight the spread of the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

Denver\u2019s protesters joined others in the West, including Salt Lake City; Boise, Idaho; and Olympia, Washington, who have staged rallies demanding immediate action to reopen states for business.<\/p>\n

Horn-honking motorists circled the Capitol building as dozens of pedestrians, some not wearing masks, congregated outside the building. Many waved American flags and held signs that read \u201cEnd the Virus, Not the Economy\u201d and \u201cWe need stability to stay healthy,\u201d The Denver Post reported<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n

Hand-washing and staying home if you\u2019re sick are fine \u2014 but not closing businesses, said protester Jim Fenimore of Colorado Springs. \u201cEvery day that goes by is hurting the state.\u201d<\/p>\n
