Since 2005, Glenwood\u2019s Downtown Market & Music Series has set up every Tuesday in Centennial Park during the summer months.<\/p>\n
This year, the market will carry on but with noticeable adjustments for COVID-19 \u2014 no live music or artisans and food and non-alcoholic beverages only.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to be more shop and go, no lingering and we\u2019ll have to limit the crowd that comes in,\u201d board member Cindy Svatos said.<\/p>\n
Booths will be positioned at least 6 feet apart and hot food vendors will only be allowed to serve their offerings to-go.<\/p>\n
Several festivals, including\u00a0Strawberry Days<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Glenwood\u2019s Fourth of July celebration<\/a>, have been canceled due to health and safety concerns as a result of the pandemic.<\/p>\n Historically, Glenwood\u2019s Downtown Market & Music Series has operated out of Centennial Park at the corner of Ninth and Grand Avenue.<\/p>\n This year, the market will relocate to its new home on Seventh Street; a move that had been in the works since before the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n Svatos said vendors will set up along Seventh Street between the elevators and Cooper Avenue.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a hard decision,\u201d Svatos said of the relocation. \u201cI think it\u2019ll work out really (well).\u201d<\/p>\n With an opening date of June 23, Glenwood\u2019s Downtown Market & Music Series will begin two weeks later than usual this year.<\/p>\n Like years past, though, the market will still be open from 4-8 p.m. every Tuesday until Sept. 15.<\/p>\n \u201cI know we have three good produce growers coming in,\u201d Svatos said. \u201cWe\u2019ve never been really big.\u201d<\/p>\n Frank Martin, a local musician who has been performing at Glenwood\u2019s Downtown Market & Music Series for nearly a decade, said he always looked forward to the market\u2019s open-air and casual audiences.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll miss playing,\u201d Martin said. \u201cI really don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen for performing artists.\u201d<\/p>\n Kitti Sanderson and her husband Bobby Sanderson, who co-own Aspen Mini Donuts, had mapped out a busy festival season prior to the pandemic.<\/p>\n \u201cThis unfortunate situation has impacted any vendor that\u2019s in this line of work greatly,\u201d Sanderson said. \u201cWe\u2019re all hoping and banking on these farmers\u2019 markets to kind of save us.\u201d<\/p>\n
