{"id":2458672,"date":"2020-05-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-21T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/?p=325996"},"modified":"2020-05-21T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-05-21T06:00:00","slug":"arts-group-crown-mountain-park-will-team-to-present-rolling-stones-film-at-temporary-drive-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/arts-group-crown-mountain-park-will-team-to-present-rolling-stones-film-at-temporary-drive-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Arts group, Crown Mountain Park will team to present Rolling Stones film at temporary drive-in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Arts Campus at Willits and Crown Mountain Park are teaming to keep arts and culture alive through the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">They will set up a temporary drive-in venue to screen the film, \u201cHavana Moon: The Rolling Stones Live in Cuba\u201d on June 19.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cLike every arts organization in the country, we\u2019ve been trying to reimagine how to do what we do,\u201d Ryan Honey, TACAW executive director, said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">TACAW\u2019s board came up with the idea of a drive-in, building off the resurgence the venues have had elsewhere in the country since the coronavirus reoriented life.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\" readability=\"6\">\n<div class=\"row at-donation at-donation-mobile p-0\" readability=\"7\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-4 p-2\">\n<div data-bg=\"url(https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/03\/AT-logo-white.png)\" class=\"p-0 mt-2 mb-2 h-75 text-center rocket-lazyload\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/03\/AT-logo-white.png\" class=\"logo m-0 p-0 invisible\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"d-inline mr-3\">Support Local Journalism<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"btn d-inline\" type=\"button\" onclick=\"handleDonationButtonClickMidArticle()\">Donate<\/button><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">They approached their contacts at Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel, and they embraced the concept. The drive-in will be established in a field owned by the U.S. Forest Service and used by the park for vehicle parking during large events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The audience will be limited to 150 vehicles with a fee of $10 per vehicle. TACAW secured a 40-foot-by-22-foot screen, so there will not be a bad seat in the house. Cars won\u2019t be packed in and people will be required to stay put except to go to the bathroom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cIt seemed like the obvious social-distancing solution,\u201d Honey said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Rolling Stones historic concert in Havana seemed like a potentially popular draw. It is a celebration of the iconic band\u2019s first performance in Cuba.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWhat\u2019s going to sound good coming out of an FM radio is rock and roll,\u201d Honey said. \u201cThe level of excitement is high.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The event is being dubbed \u201cLet\u2019s Spend the Night Together with the Stones at the Drive-In!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Tickets will go on sale May 26 at TACAW.org. Gates will open at 7:45 p.m. The film starts at 8:45 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to stop at partnering restaurants and get take-out dinner for the event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Other events are being planned with TACAW with Crown Mountain Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe don\u2019t envision this being a one and done,\u201d Honey said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">TACAW is also progressing on its plans to build a permanent venue in the midvalley. It is working on its building permit with the town of Basalt for its performing arts center in Willits.
