class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Starting on Monday, physical fitness instruction can occur in Aspen parks on a two-month trial basis, as long as the operator obtains a $50 permit from the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Austin Weiss, the city\u2019s parks and open space director, said as <a id=\"N0x1922670N0x1af77f0:N0x1922670N0x1abb5c0\" href=\"https:\/\/covid19.pitkincounty.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19 restrictions continue<\/a> for local businesses that are aligned with <a id=\"N0x1922670N0x1af7850:N0x1922670N0x1abb650\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/state-approves-pitkin-county-variance-phase-2-reopening-to-start-wednesday\/\">health, fitness and wellness<\/a>, public parks have been alternative spaces to conduct classes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The program is designed to be discontinued at the end of July, with the potential for an extension, pending an evaluation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cHolding these classes in an outdoor environment provides more space to allow for greater social distancing, and better air movement also creates a safer experience for both the participants and the instructors,\u201d Weiss wrote in an <a id=\"N0x1922670N0x1af78b0:N0x1922670N0x1abb800\" href=\"https:\/\/d3n9y02raazwpg.cloudfront.net\/cityofaspen\/4788aea7-9c53-11ea-a2af-0050569183fa-da76106a-2e02-4fe6-bbb2-ae71e53e957b-1590169350.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">informational memo<\/a> to Aspen City Council. \u201cParks staff feels that managing these park requests can be achieved by utilizing the existing parks permit system.\u201d<\/p>\n<div BodyText\">The city\u2019s parks department manages over 30 parks in town, and 14 of them are designated for physical fitness instruction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The parks that can be venues for instruction will remain open to the public throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The physical instruction and classes will be limited to the first half of the day and be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Weiss noting that parks have been heavily used in the afternoons and evenings during COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Businesses will need to submit a \u201cSpecial Use in Parks During COVID\u201319\u201d <a id=\"N0x1922670N0x1af7910:N0x1922670N0x1abbad0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofaspen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">request form to the city<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Classes will be limited to nine participants and one instructor, and no amplified music will be allowed.<\/p>\n<p
