{"id":2459010,"date":"2020-05-29T21:36:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-30T03:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/aspen-neighbors-alleged-harassment-escalates\/"},"modified":"2020-05-29T21:36:00","modified_gmt":"2020-05-30T03:36:00","slug":"aspen-neighbors-alleged-harassment-escalates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/aspen-neighbors-alleged-harassment-escalates\/","title":{"rendered":"Aspen neighbor\u2019s alleged harassment escalates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">An Aspen woman who allegedly used a pick axe to attack her neighbor\u2019s house Thursday in retaliation for a prior misdemeanor complaint involving police was arrested and charged with a felony, according to court records.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Lisa Ruggieri, 57, faces one count of felony retaliation against a witness after she was allegedly caught on video repeatedly attacking a wall of the house next door, the other side of which is the room of her neighbor\u2019s 10-month son, according to an arrest warrant affidavit filed Friday in Pitkin County District Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201c(The neighbor) mentioned that due to this incident, his wife and 10-month-old had left the house to go stay (elsewhere) for the night,\u201d the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Aspen police initially tried to contact Ruggieri because she called them Thursday and said she wanted to report a harassment. When an officer called her back, she was \u201cextremely rude\u201d and eventually said a female neighbor was following her around the neighborhood, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\" readability=\"6\">\n<div class=\"row at-donation at-donation-mobile p-0\" readability=\"7\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-4 p-2\">\n<div data-bg=\"url(https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/03\/AT-logo-white.png)\" class=\"p-0 mt-2 mb-2 h-75 text-center rocket-lazyload\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/03\/AT-logo-white.png\" class=\"logo m-0 p-0 invisible\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"d-inline mr-3\">Support Local Journalism<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"btn d-inline\" type=\"button\" onclick=\"handleDonationButtonClickMidArticle()\">Donate<\/button><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">She told an officer \u201cthe neighbor was \u2018trying to convince her of her line of thinking and I\u2019m telling her that I don\u2019t want to listen,\u2019\u201d the document states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The officer saw that Ruggieri had been cited for harassing her neighbors about two weeks before, so he contacted that neighbor. The man told him he thought Ruggieri was calling about another neighbor who\u2019d earlier been trying to calm Ruggieri from an \u201canger episode,\u201d according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">In the course of the discussion, the neighbor also reported that a family member had taken video footage of Ruggieri kicking a water jug against the side of their house where his son sleeps. He forwarded the videos to the officer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The first showed Ruggieri kick a large plastic water jug against the home five times, while the second depicted her \u201cslamming a rock twice into the side of (the) residence,\u201d the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cThe third video sent to me \u2026 shows Ruggieri kicking a rock into the side of part of (the) house and then using a pick axe near the base of the house,\u201d according to the affidavit. \u201cThe pick axe looks as though it\u2019s hitting part of the house near the base of the siding but it\u2019s hard to tell from the angle of the video.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">District Judge Chris Seldin allowed Ruggieri out of jail Friday on a $2,500 personal recognizance bond.
