{"id":2459062,"date":"2020-05-31T22:48:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-01T04:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/offending-police-looters-are-all-culpable\/"},"modified":"2020-06-01T07:56:04","modified_gmt":"2020-06-01T13:56:04","slug":"offending-police-looters-are-all-culpable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/offending-police-looters-are-all-culpable\/","title":{"rendered":"Offending police, looters are all culpable"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"28\">\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The governor of Minnesota correctly called out that the rioting over the tragic death of George Floyd could be ascribed to a \u201cgeneration of pain.\u201d Sadly, it can also be ascribed to perceived criminal opportunity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">That opportunity is using an incident of shameless police behavior to loot stores for a new TV or a bag of electronic goodies, and to start fires on public and private property for whatever perverted amusement . Such behavior is perpetrated by selfish, uncaring individuals, under cover of the legitimate public display of righteous anger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">And this criminal behavior serves to diminish the very legitimate public expression of outrage for what befell George Floyd.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">It is thus disgraceful on two accounts: a crime of burglary and vandalism, while distracting from the needed focus on the precipitating offense against Mr. Floyd.
